“Great Nights Rest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We only stayed one night but I highly recommend this Residence Inn. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room and bed linens were clean. Room was very large with sofa and kitchen included. Almost like home! The breakfast buffet that is included with the room was great! Hot eggs, sausage. biscuits and gravy along with a ready to make waffles! Also had cereal or danish if you prefer. OJ, Tea and coffee....the works!!!

Hotel has a variety of restaurants in the area and convenient to I-85. Our son attends UNC- Charlotte and this is just down the street from campus. Highly Recommend!!

Thank you for the nice comments. The University City area is one of the premier areas in Charlotte as it pertains to entertainment and dining. We are fortunate to be located in the center of that hub and be able to provide any guests coming into the area the quality service and Marriott welcome that they deserve. Thank you to all for your business!!

“Standard Residence Inn Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I recently stayed at this Residence Inn while visiting relatives in Mt. Holly. It was very easy to reach from Route 85. The hotel was surrounded by a number of restaurants, drug stores, etc, so it would certainly be easy to pick up some groceries or forgotten items. We found our room to be clean and spacious - exactly what I've come to expect from a Residence Inn. Upon arrival, we received a personalized hand-written note (perhaps becuase we are frequent guests?) welcoming us to the hotel with a little bag of goodies. It was a nice touch and appreciated. We had breakfast in the large common room and found it to be more than adequate: scrambled eggs, home-style potatoes, made-to-order waffles, cerals, juices, yogurt parfaits, buttermilk biscuits, coffee, etc. It was very nice and the attendants were courteous and helpful.

It should be noted that the area is very busy and can be quite loud. As a previous reviewer noted, there is a firehouse nearby so there were frequent sirens and our room backed up to a fast-food restaurant drive-through which could be loud at times. For trips to Charlotte, I prefer the Residence Inn Uptown, but I would certainly recommend this hotel if you require accomodation near the hospital or research park.

“Spacious, clean rooms, nice breakfast buffet, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend. The hotel is very clean, with a 'town-house' feel, rather than traditional hotel rooms lined up along a hallway. The room was very nice, with a kitchen (including refrigerator, dishwasher and small table), living room with sofas, king-size bed and nice bathroom.

The breakfast buffet was very good, with waffles, eggs, potatoes, cereal, muffins....you name it. And the staff went out of their way to assist.

The hotel also has a small pool and a paddle ball / basketball court. There are even tables outside where you can enjoy the wonderful breakfast.

Two small complaints: The A/C blows directly over the bed, so it is windy when sleeping. some might consider this a feature, but I don't! The other thing may have been unique to our room. The kitchen has a small window that looks out onto the outdoor hallway, with only mini-blinds covering the window. The outdoor lights are directly beside the window, so the room is rather lit up, and the light shines right into the bed area. The other 3 windows (these really are lovely rooms) have heavy drapes to block out all light, but the kitchen window lets in enough to make the room rather light.

Overall....a very spacious room that you could easily spend a week in, without feeling cramped.

Thank you for the wonderful comments about our hotel. I would also like to apologize for the two small issues that you encountered. We are looking into solutions for the window/light issue in the kitchen, and will be providing air dam at the front desk to help dirvert the airflow off the beds. We look forward to seeing you again.

“Always what we expect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

My wife and son and I stayed there on the 21st , We were warmly welcomed and given the room we requested . As a person that is on the road 200 days a year you tend to stay in familiar places near where your work is close by.I have been staying here every time I work an event at the amphitheater. My family was here and it was my sons birthday so they drove to meet.We took the kids swimming and got back to no ac.... Called the front desk and in less than 2 min there was a tech there to work on the problem.. 45 min later no ac all 2 front desk people helped us carry bags to new room. Bravo

Room Tip: Great location and great staff

“Decent hotel but some issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

We stayed at this hotel while relocating to Charlotte. The staff is friendly and the management staff is very helpful. The breakfast is ok but gets old if you stay there for more than 5 days.

The location is near a fire station so if there is an emergency at night, you will hear the sirens. The dishwasher kept failing and they could never quite fix it. However it is also located across the street from a strip mall with lots of good restaurant options.
