We stayed on the day after Christmas, rate was $114 including parking. As a priority club platinum member got upgraded to top floor renovated room with a view. Lobby and all public areas had been newly renovated. Room was a typical HI room, but clean, nice, and comfortable. Restaurant and bar both looked nice, but didn't patronize either one so cannot comment on anything except appearance. The location is very convenient because the hotel is connected to the adjacent Merchandise Mart, which is connected to the brown line train. Staff was professional and I have no complaints about them.
If you are planning to drive to Chicago, and plan to use public transportation to get around the city,I recommend this property if you can get the rate that includes parking.
The only thing I can warn you about is that breakfast is expensive - eggs potatoes and coffee were something like $15. Our solution was to run over to the merchandies mart and get bagels and coffee from Dunkin Donuts. There is a McDonald's there too.
