“A fine location for a visit to Charlotte!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

This a fine hotel in a perfect location for enjoying what downtown Charlotte has to offer. We experienced wonderful service and had great breakfasts and light dinners in the concierge lounge on the 18th floor. Our room was clean and quiet on the 17th floor. Parking below the hotel made getting in and out easy; just don't bring an oversized vehicle because the access is very tight via a circular exit..

The fifth floor pool was perfect for daily workouts....you can swim laps going from the right of the stairs to the middle of the two drains at the other end....there are no lane markers, but it is a wonderful pool. The workout room has about 25 stations for those who want to exercise.

The hotel is often sold out on weekdays and many weekends, but does offer decent weekend rates much of the time. Even at the standard weekday rate of $249. a night, it is a good value if you want a safe, clean place to lay your head.

Room Tip: Being a large city, there is lots of street noise. A higher floor room may help lessen the noise.

“Horrible experience!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed at this property over Christmas while attend the Bowl Game. The service was horrible. The Presidential Suite never carried ESPN even after being asked numerous times to accommodate our request. We were told that the TV channels changed daily. The food offered in the Hospitality Suite is a health hazard due to improper handling. Our sushi was out 4 hours without being put on ice. The morning of the big game there was a fire alarm. The staff was clueless on how to handle the magnitude of people and disaster response training is clearly lacking. This property is nowhere near the caliber that Marriott expects.

“Great location for downtown activities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

This spot is great and within an easy walk to all of the stuff that's downtown in Charlotte. There's also a fairly decent sports bar in the lobby and a wine bar in the evenings. It doubles as the breakfast location in the morning. There's also a Starbucks in the hotel. The staff was very helpful and accomodating.

Room Tip: Go ahead and pay to valet otherwise you'll be driving all over looking for a place to park, even...

“Terrific!”

I would expect nothing less than great service from a Marriott. I am there on business often. It's a good choice!

Room Tip: Any room there is good

“Great location, nice rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We spent a weekend with my wife and my baby. Let me tell you that the front desk and all the staff (from the valet to the lady preparing omelettes at breakfast) were very nice. You can see they enjoy their job!
The hotel is downtown and it can take a while to get in since the driveway is very small and sometimes there are several cars waiting to load/unload. We parked downstairs and it was not too expensive.
The lobby is nice and the hotel is clean. They have a Starbucks in the lobby that also works as a re:Store (where you can get some toiletries in case you forgot them) (or TSA confiscated them).
The rooms were big enough. Our issue was being too close to the elevators and the 2 nights we were awakened by other guests that were coming back from partying at 2 AM (and one of them needed ice at that time). On another occasion I was awakened by an ambulance (and we were on the 6th floor!).
The hotel had a nice indoor pool and a regular size gym that were not busy at all.
Breakfast was good but nothing extraordinary. I thought that they can add better pastries and more cheese varietes, cold cuts or different juices. The lady preparing the omelette was very nice and warm. The sports bar food was so-so, probably not good enough to go back unless you are in a hurry.
Every room has internet (wired) but not wireless...
Great location downtown if you are watching a game!
