My husband and I have stayed here numerous times over the last 24 plus years - sometimes with our children and sometimes without. We have seen the hotel go through several major renovations. The latest renovation is wonderful!
We recently stayed for one night in December. It was very quiet. The room and the halls were spotless. The staff were all very accommodating. The hotel is in a good area for shopping and going to restaurants, however, you do have to drive to them. The location is not walker friendly - except for a Panera Bread around the corner.
Starbuck's coffee is served in the "restaurant" and coffee is also available early in the morning in the lobby - which has plenty of comfortable seating and privacy.
I would suggest staying on the 2nd or 3rd floor. Since the hotel is in somewhat of an isolated area (near office buildings that are closed on the weekends) I'm always a little wary of staying right on the ground floor.

This Marriott, while a bit older, is still a classic Courtyard property. The lobby is current which made breakfast and an evening beverage very convenient. My room was clean and comfortable which I expect from a Marriott property. My disappointment with this hotel was the lobby staff. As a frequent traveler I appreciate being greeted in a pleasant manner and the staff trying to make me feel welcome. I don't expect star treatment but the lack of basic courtesy has left me under impressed. The woman at the front desk barely acknowledged me during check in. When I asked for assistance extending my stay due to an unforseen situation, I was informed that they were sold out and no additional assistance was offered. I ended up checking out this morning and booking at a competitors location due to their willingness to assist me. A room may have opened up but I was not inclined to try. During check out I handed in my key and the response was Bye - no question about the stay.

I am probably not going to stay here anymore even though the office I work at is right next door. The staff is nice but the hotel is just too old. They remodeled the lobby but didn't really care about their rooms. The drapes have stains, the shower curtain had mold, the internet is non existent (took me 10min to get to this website, not kidding).. I changed my upcoming reservations and paying more to stay farther away.

I selected this Courtyard because of its proximity to where relatives live in Charlotte (very near SouthPark shopping area). While I was not disappointed, neither was I impressed; it is an older property and there is only so much that can be done in terms of remodeling/updating. While the room was clean and the bed comfortable, the bathroom left a lot to be desired (very small & sterile lavatory area) and the living area furniture was very average in look and comfort.
While located on a quiet street, there is a fire station about one mile away, and we were awakened by emergency vehicles two or three times during the two nights of our stay.
The lobby is nice and the staff was friendly and helpful, but I will try a newer property on my next visit to Charlotte.
