I found this hotel on Tripadvisor because we wanted to go stay in Charlotte for my birthday. I wanted to find the best thing for a reasonable price so I was very nervous about picking the "right" place. I definitely picked the right place though because this hotel greatly exceeded my expectations. When we got there the front desk person was very friendly, professional, and gave us lots of information about the hotel, like when breakfast was in the morning, happy hour etc. The hotel was very clean. We went to our room to set our things down and it was VERY nice and up-to-date looking. We went back downstairs to look around and they had a table with newspapers on it for the guests, a nice fitness center, a business center with a computer and printer (for free), and a touch screen "referral" center where you could look for local places to eat and attractions. It also had a printer attached to it so you could print directions if you chose someplace to go. The hotel lobby and dining room were decorated for Christmas beautifully and there were gas logs burning in the fireplace.
When we were stumped for a place to go (we wanted something very casual), we asked the front desk person who suggested a place and gave us a discount card too, which was nice. They had a shuttle service that would take you where you want to go in the city (we took it to dinner) and all we had to do was call them back to be picked up again. I knew the hotel was right next to the city, though I didn't realize it was only four blocks from the city, so once we realized that we just walked into the city after that.
The hotel was in a nice area and close to a nice area of the city too, so we didn't mind walking - there was plenty to see.
Overnight we slept well. We didn't hear a peep from anyone nearby and of course the five down pillows on the bed helped a little too :) In the morning breakfast was really nice too (sorry to say "really" and "very" so much, but it applies). There were lots of things to choose from. Oatmeal with all the fixins, cold cereal, fresh made waffles, eggs, french toast, yogurt, fruit, doughnuts, everything but grits (which I don't care about). Everything else under the sun was there though and it was good. To me the shining example of a good breakfast is good coffee and it was very good. We walked to the stadium to look around which was right next door after breakfast. When it was time to go, they had already slipped a bill under our door with a detail of our charges before breakfast, so we didn't even have to "check out." All in all it was fabulous. I am definitely going back.
