“Not up to Comfort's Standards”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

My wife and I stayed at this Comfort Suites for 2 nights on a family trip to Charlotte. I have been a Choice Privileges member for over 10 years and never go to a 3 star hotel expecting 5 star service. That being said this hotel was a total disappointment. While there we encountered 3 major problems that were not resolved:
1) The wireless did not work. We were told repeatedly that it would be resolved, but it never was.
2) This was the first choice hotel that I have stayed at the offered NO movie channel.
3) The shower head was old and leaked, greatly affecting the water pressure.

While none of the these issue had a detrimental effect on our stay (luckily i have a smart phone with unllimited data) they certainly were not up to what I have come to expect at a choice hotel at this level. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

“More disappointing than the last time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

Stayed here last Fall & thought I would give it another try as it was ok but not impressive then. That was a mistake. The a/c worked in some rooms, not in others and the lobby, hallways, and elevators were just hot. Most of the hall units were either not on at all or blowing warm air. Hallways were not vacuumed for the entire 5 days we were there as the same debris on carpet was very noticeable. Room had a damp feeling to it from the moment we arrived until the time we left. Walking on the carpet your feet actually felt wet although they weren't. Received only partial towel service each day causing visits to desk each night when we got in. Rooms need updating badly, old lamps, furniture, TV. Holes in sheets, blankets, & dirty bed skirts & walls. Freezer compartment in fridge needed defrosting badly. People at desk at night had a definite "don't care, don't know" attitude. Breakfast was OK but the area was uncomfortable due to a/c issue. Different desk people each night and only one guy was helpful. Booked this motel for location, brand, and previous experience but managment is not keeping the motel up to standards.

“First impressions mean everything...and this one was not good.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

I work in the hotel industry, and I usually spend a lot of time on trips (unintentionally) taking mental notes of pros and cons. I arrived at the front desk and waited for several minutes to be noticed. When I was noticed, the woman was unfriendly and had little to say. Basically her only words were "Okay " when I told her I had a reservation, and "Here" when she gave me my keys. She also reeked of cigarette smoke.

We stayed in a king guest room that was on the fifth floor. It had a lot of space and was clean. It was a little dated, but nothing other than typical hotel furnishings. I looked through the binder that had information about the area and hotel, and was surprised to see so many typos. It wasn't very professional, but that was good for a laugh more than anything else.

Most everything about the room was mediocre. It wasn't at all windy outside, but for some reason, outside my window there was the constant sound of the wind whistling. It was just loud enough to get on my nerves and keep me from getting a good night's sleep. I don't know if it was just because of where my room was or what. Being that it was late at night and the cold reception I got at the front desk when I arrived, I decided against calling the front desk clerk.

The continental breakfast was mediocre--plenty of bagels, muffins, cereals. The hot bar didn't look too appetizing, but then again, it's hard to make eggs look good when they sit under a heat lamp all morning.

All in all it was a decent stay, but I won't stay there again. I booked at the last minute for an event in Charlotte, so I just consider it my lesson to plan ahead next time.

This was my first stay at Comfort Suites, but it won't be my last. Everything was nice and clean, the staff was friendly, courteous, and very helpful, and our room was very quiet.

“Friendly and Convenient to UNCC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

The hotel needs a bit of updating in the rooms, but overall it was fine. The air conditioner vents appeared to have mildew in them, so it may not be best for anyone with alergies, but the rest was clean.
The staff was freindly and helpful, and it is located just a mile from UNCC as well as restaurants and department stores for college shopping.
