“Decent, clean, budget hotel that gave me a new appreciation for nonsmoking hotels”
My first impression of this hotel is that it was very clean and well maintained for a facility that had not undergone recent renovations. The room was clean, the carpet was not sticky, the bed was comfy, and the shower was hot with good pressure. The wifi worked, the room was spacious with a neat layout, and the staff was friendly. There was a shower stall instead of a bathtub in my king room, which I found to be pleasant since I rarely take baths at hotels.
The only two problems I had started when a person checked into the room above me around 8pm. I know about when they got to their room because from the moment they walked in the door, there was very loud creaking in the ceiling. Fortunately most people spend the entire night/evening sitting on the bed, so it wasn't as bad as it could be. However, I could see how someone would be very annoyed if they were trying to sleep inn (haha) and the person above them had to catch a 6 am flight. The more important issue was that I was in a nonsmoking room, but I am guessing that the person above me was in a smoking room. I was in my room for a couple of hours and there was no smoke smell at all, but about half of an hour after I heard my neighbor enter the room above me I started smelling cigarette smoke - almost as if someone were smoking in the room with me.
After having this experience, I might stay here again if I was in the area and the price was right or I might not. The room was fine, but I really disliked the smoking issue - which is why I selected a nonsmoking room. I would first attempt to find a completely non-smoking hotel or similar quality in the same price range, and if I could not then I might stay here again.
Room Tip: I would ask to be put in a room as far away as possible from occupied smoking rooms.
