“Better than expected...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2010

This was a very clean and quite hotel with beautiful rooms. Everything in the guest rooms was either new or recently renovated. Particularly liked the nice flat-panel TV and the large and well-appointed bathroom. I am not a fan of the continental breakfast offerings at most hotels, and this one was typical for the brand. However the buffet was clean, well stocked and met my expectations. Only down side is that the hotel is a little difficult to find. When you turn on to Farrington Rd., you turn into the hotel at an entrance with a Hampton Inn sign prominently displayed. There is not a HI Express sign at the turn. I missed the turn and had to turn around to get back to the hotel. Nice hotel....wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

“Wonderful, clean hotel with nice staff.”

Went to Chapel Hill to see a UNC basketball game. Stayed here and the staff was so nice. They let us check in early when we arrived. The breakfast was hot and nice each morning. Cleaning staff was more than happy to come back later in the afternoon when they first knocked on our door. All in all, a very nice hotel, close to UNC. Hard to find off the main road, signage is not the best. Look for the Hampton Inn sign, it is in the same parking lot.

“Enjoyed our two night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2009

We recently stayed in an accessible room. It was comfortable, but somewhat cramped (two queen beds in a small space). Jeff, on the front desk was especially helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate.

“Good Place to stay if visiting UNC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2009

This hotel is a good place to stay if you are visting UNC/Chapel Hill/Durham area. You are able to use the small outdoor pool at the adjacent hotel. The rooms are good and the reception staff are excellent.

“Okay, but room location and service were not very good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2009

We reserved our room through our credit card's point/cash system so it was prepaid. When we arrived at the hotel, there were no cars in the parking lot, so I assumed that we were arriving earlier than most. At the front desk, I was asked for my credit card to pay for the room, but I told the clerk that it was prepaid and showed him the receipt. He said okay, but was a little hesitant. We were given a room that was not on the main corridor and right beside the elevator (room 201). It was way too loud, so we called down and asked for a new room. He called back 10 min later and asked us if we minded a "handicapped" room. It was on the first floor down a hallway without any other guest rooms. It was a standard king room with fridge and microwave - overall the room was quite nice, except the wireless never really worked. AND it was beside the laundry room and we were awakened by the dryer being turned on/off throughout the night. In the morning, I found a bill under our door with the balance for the room amount - not $0.00. At the front desk, I was told that is how they did it so your credit card didn't show on the bill. What?!? I've stayed in many hotel rooms, and you always want a bill showing $0 as the balance. I had to repeatedly ask her for a receipt showing $0, but when she finally did it, it showed an American Xpress number (not my credit card). When I told her about our room, she was surprised that the previous clerk didn't ask us if we wouldn't mind a double/double instead of a King. So overall, it wasn't bad, but given the choices in the area, I won't stay there again. I fear that we were treated like that because it was a prepaid room.
