“Good price, but thats all”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I picked this hotel because of location. I had a class to take near Cary and thought it would be a short drive to class. Also, the price was good ($44 per night).
The room was dirty! Carpet has stains all over it and is damp near the outer wall. Musty smell. Dirty around the edges of the room. Heater is loud. All of the lights have tempermental switches, you have to jiggle them to make the light stay on.
The same with the electrical outlet that I plugged my laptop into.
The first night was quiet, good for me to study.....but the second has lots of noisy people in the hallways and also a squeeling dog that nobody will keep quiet.
Also, the bed has a dip in it and is hard as a brick.
This is the first time I have stayed at a Red Roof and its for sure the last. I'll spend a few more bucks if I have to just to have a clean room.

Room Tip: Ice machine is only on the 2nd and 4th floor.

The room and bathroom was dirty. I should have checked out but was having a medical procedure the next day. Cheaper than other Red Roofs in the area but not workth it. Location is good but that's about it.

“If you need to save dollars, you'll be fine here.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

Found this for $35/night on hotwire. The rating takes this into account.

I was mainly worried about bed bugs, but there didn't seem to be any, and I'm not itchy after 2 days.

Let's be clear--spend the absolute minimum amount of time in the room that you need to.
Here's the list of flaws so you can get a picture:

1. Strange cleaner smell in lobby/hall typical in lower end places
2. Water stains on ceiling poorly plastered over
3. Spots of peeling plaster-maybe 1 or 2 per wall
4. Heater a bit loud
5. Edges of floor not vacummed
6. Bed not very sturdy, quite dirty behind bed.
7. Bits of mold/stains in shower grouting.
8. Some stains on floor under sink (where you wouldn't ever step)
9. Stains, burn holes on sheets. (very few, very small, but still)
10. Bed is terrible for your back. Very springy. Pillows small and not enough.

I didn't put anything on the floor, didn't even bring my suitcase inside. That helped me feel cleaner.

All in all, it was actually better than I anticipated, which is why I stayed, but I wouldn't ever bring family here.

“OK room, hard to book”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Before booking the room through an internet travel site, we called the hotel directly. The rate when we called directly was a fair amount more than the price on the web. That's OK, because that's sometimes how it works.

We had a lot of trouble understanding the desk clerk due to native language differences. I was not able to specify a first floor room on the web and I asked if I would be able to get one. After several minutes of miscommunications with the clerk, we said thank-you ad booked the room online,

We were able to get a first floor room. The only ice machine was on the third floor.

We had no complaints about the room. It was OK and the bed comfortable enough.

Room Tip: Ice machines only on third floor of the building where we stayed.

“You get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

We had to stay here with our dogs recently after some water damage at our house in Raleigh. We chose this hotel because we've had good stays at other Red Roof Inns in the past, the hotel is dog friendly, and we were looking for somewhere inexpensive to stay a night or two as we repaired the damage.

The room was fairly dirty. There was a suspicious looking hair on the bathroom countertop. I could have let that slide, but then the next morning as I was getting out of the shower, I noticed that the last guest had left a soiled pad (a.k.a. feminine napkin) behind the toilet on the floor. I was grossed out to say the least! I complained to the hotel clerk, but I didn't get a reaction from him, which makes me wonder if that sort of thing happens often...?

Bottom line: I'd look around for a different hotel in Cary. It may be worth it to pay a little more for clean accommodations. However, I wouldn't write off all Red Roof Inns; some are maintained very nicely and are reasonably priced.
