We just stayed there for the U.S. Kids World Championship during the first week of August, 2011 because our son was playing the course located there. The golf staff and golf course was very nice and efficient, BUT the living conditions, customer service, and their handling of customers is TERRIBLE! I made the reservations almost one year in advance, needing a downstairs condo (for my elderly mother) and requesting an interior condo overlooking the pond area. I was told by Allen that this was not a problem since I was the first person making a reservation. Upon arrival, I was put in an upstairs condo overlooking the parking lot. Upon complaining, I was initially told that there was nothing that could be done. Further, my son had noon tee times during the tournament, and the staff "insisted" that the only time they could "clean" was at 8:30 in the morning. They then proceeded to take our bedding and failed to return it for three days. We would continually complain to the answering machine at the front desk - never, ever, did anyone ever pick up at the front desk or return a call. The place had bugs and one evening the alarm went off. After figuring out that there was no fire, we waited and waited. we tried calling the front desk but once again got an answering machine. Finally, we tried every number we had and called the grille and spoke to someone there who said that there was no fire and to ignore it!!! Finally, we called and told them that we were worried and felt we needed to call the local police and fire departments if nothing was done in ten minutes - funny how that got them to react. Just a terrible, terrible, place. With a good management company, it could be changed, but it really was a horrible expenence on the living side. That said, I would play the course there again, just would NOT ever stay there again.

The Little River Resort was highly recommended based on reviews and friends that had been here in the past. The economy has not been good to this place. We should have done more current research before coming here. The rooms were not clean and need TLC, the pool water was cloudy and over chlorinated and service non-existent. The place was basically empty so we did not expect a lot of staff, but the there were only 2-3 people visible the entire time we we here. The Internet did not work and cell phone reception was very poor. We had to drive into town to make phone calls and we had to go to Panera Bread to check e-mails since no one made an attempt to fix the INternet connection. We did eat at the on site restaurant twice and both times service was poor and the food was not very good. It took 45 minutes to get a burger. I asked one of ther three staff people we saw the entire week we were here what was going on and I was told that they had laid off their sales and marketing people last spring, that they had trouble paying property taxes and that the property was foreclosed on and then the bank that foreclosed on the property was in trouble as well. It appears that this place may be on borrowed time.

The golf at this facility was a bigger disappointment. The layout was reasonable good, although not scenic. The playing conditions were horrid. If there was any doubt that the economy has hot this place in the wallet, one can assume that the cuts have been deep in the course maintenance area as well. That is bad because this is only a golf facility, there are no other amenities besides a cloudy pool. We played several courses in the area and all were in better condition than Little River. Some were even less money, although we did run into one couple playing Little River that told us they were playing on an advertised special of $18 each which included a cart on Sunday. We played other golf courses in the area and all were in better shape than Little River. Unfortunately, Little River looks like it has been neglected and the skeleton staff they have can't deliver a quality experience. If you come here, look for that $18 special at least that way you'll feel as though you did not overspend for your day. You should pack your own food though since you may not get any service at the restaurant. Next trip to the Pinehurst area we'll stay in town at a newer, better kept place and play golf courses up and down Midland Road.

Let's be frank; this nicely designed and located place is devoted to one thing only: golf. They carved out a nice course outside of Pinehurst, NC. However, the food is below average. The rooms are nice but they are a copy of your old dormitory suite; 2 rooms share a living room and kitchen, so you've got roomates. If they are your golfing buddies, you'll do fine. If not, I would not recommend this place.

We visited Little River Golf Resort in December. The golf villas were terrific, 2 bedrooms, living room and fully equipped kitchen, large bathrooms. Great convienant location when visiting the Pinehurst area, on a beautiful golf course. We did eat in the clubhouse, which we liked very much. I'd go again, its very reasonable, friendly and a great home base to play golf there and other courses in the area.
