“older motel - 22 rooms - Friendly family own it..best price last minute Easter”

Clean, but older motel. Sweet, Christain family owned. Cannot see beach from lower floor due to dunes, but that was OK for our stay, our room faced the pool. Close walk to Boardwalk. Got what we paid for in the area for a last minute on Easter weekend. It worked for us.

Room Tip: Ask for 2nd flr if you want to see beach from room

I recently visited the port city area, I wanted to explore the beautiful beaches as well as the historic wilmington area. I call visited a few hotels prior to choosing one for my one week stay. I chose the Savannah Inn because of the awesome location!!! The room had an awesome view of the ocean . The room was so pleasant and clean, I would recommend the Savannah Inn to family and friends. I search a long time for a nice facility, and finally found a treasure. My trip to eastern carolina was made special based on the accommodations at the Savannah Inn!!! :)

“It's too bad that this hotel is so dirty... it really ruined our stay.”

I was in North Carolina staying with a friend, and we decided to stay a night at Carolina Beach. She paid for my son and I along with her two children and herself to stay on the coast for a special trip. When we got there, we headed straight for the beach... We spent a few hours on the sand, and when we returned to our room, we started to notice things that are not acceptable in a hotel setting - especially to the tune of $178 per night.
The floor was dirty with spots, the bedding was stained and yellow, the shower was moldy and the toilet hardly flushed. The blind practically fell off the window when we pulled it up... we should have left it down because it revealed a dirty window... The back door lead to a porch with a dilapidated swing that had missing rungs on the seat and exposed rusty nails... the porch rocker didn't look much better...
When my friend approached the hotel manager about our concerns, she was rude and snapped that we would not be receiving a refund. She did not try to reason with us at all - whatever happened to "the customer is always right?" When we pointed out that the shower was all mildew, she replied that "they were having an issue with that for the past 4 months and did not know how to get rid of it" ... She did offer to clean whatever we didn't like in the room, but we had seen enough.
We ended up leaving and taking the 2.5 hour drive back to my friends home - we were very disappointed and upset at the way this hotel treated us... I feel as though the only great thing about this hotel is their close proximity to the beach... It is too bad because with a few upgrades and a bottle of bleach, this place could be a really great inn, and would probably leave their guests feeling happy.

“Checked in... went to the beach, went back to the room... and RAN home!”

My friends came to visit from NH and really wanted to go to the beach. I live 2.5 hrs. from the beach, so we certainly did not want to drive home. We found this place online and it looked cute and clean (must have been old pictures). We got there and checked-in. I should have known something was wrong when they charged my card before I even looked at the room. Anyway, we dropped our bags in the room and went to the beach since the kids were anxious to play, our first reaction to the room was, "it looks old" (old I can deal with, dirty I can not). When we got back to the room 4 hrs. later to take showers we realized that the kitchen floors were dirty with spots, the carpet was ripped, the molding around the shower was rotting, the blinds were broken and falling apart, the windows were dirty, the furniture was very old, the wood swing on the porch had rusty nails sticking out of it (which I sat on without realizing it!), we were curious, to see what was under the old comforters and pillow shams and discovered a disgusting yellow stained pillow when we removed the case (we didn't even bother to check out the mattresses) at this point we saw enough! I went to the office to ask if I could have my money back because there was no way we were going to sleep there, and the office was locked. I called the emergency number they provided at check-in and the lady came to my room to see what was wrong with it. She came in and said "I will tell you right now, you are not going to get your money back, but I will clean whatever is dirty in the room". I said that it was more than just dirty, it was a safety hazard and unsanitary and that we just wanted to go home. Then as I was packing up the car, the owner rudely confronted me and said "this is no Holiday Inn, hotel or motel. this is a family inn and that room is the cleanest room you're gonna find" he went on to say, if I wanted to switch rooms to talk to his daughter in the office. I replied by saying "I already talked to her and she was not very nice to me and never offered to switch rooms and thank you sir, but I just want to go home now".

Needless to say this was a horrible experience and we drove home!
