“Awesome Stay for family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

I used rto stay in a friend's timeshare nearby this motel. I found this motel online and didnt know what to expect when the room was so cheap during peak. Let me tell you what I got for a great price. First, it was right on the beach. Second, the pool felt heated and the pool was cleaned and tested everyday. I watched them do it. Third, the room had a nice ocean view, two beds, a mini-fridge, a mic and cable. The first thing that I do is check for cleanliness and bugs. The room was clean and we had fresh towels everyday. For those who complain because the sheets were not changed every single day, get over it. It saves energy and what does it matter if you are the one sleeping in it? If you are that picky, go to the Hilton. It was a clean, great area, and a great price.I never had to complain and had fresh towels daily. What more can you ask for at the beach? Every time that I go to that beach, I am going to stay at the Oceaneer Motel. I do not vouch for anyone unless they are worth it. Oceaneer Motel was a great find.

Room Tip: Second floor and up have the best view. Look at smoking options on rooms as well.

“Don't rent just because it's a "Beachfront!"”

Most everything Dianna79 said happened to us too! The people were nice, it looked ok from the outside, and it was right on the beach. BUT, when we went into our room, it was NOT clean. We had to put towels all over the floor to help keep our feet from getting filthy...but we still had to wash them constantly! No coffee maker in the room, and none offered in the office either...you had to PAY for a bucket of ice. For $100 per night we expected to at least get one bucket of ice, and a cup of morning joe. The only reason I gave it ANY stars is because the people were nice, and it was on the beach. I rarely pay more than $65 per night for an inexpensive motel, and I still get clean floors, coffee maker in the room, outlets by the sink for my blowdryer, as much ice as we need, a continental breakfast, and soft, clean towels...not scratchy, stained towels like we were given here. I do not recommend this $100 per night motel when there is a $210 per week motel only a few miles away that was much nicer, but we mistakenly went for the "beachfront," and we have learned our lesson.

“Pretty dumpy”

We are not fancy people, just average middle of the road. We honestly don't expect granite countertops or flat screen TV's...and we don't complain much, honestly..but this place was a dump. The pool was filthy..had sand, dirt and bugs in it every day we were there, which was a week. Many of the air conditoning units were dripping onto the balcony and rusty and old. Our room was supposed to have a so called kitchen in it, but the fridge was micro small. There was s sign on the wall that said anyone who leaves dirty dishes would be charged. I had to wash all the dishes our first day there, had spots all over them. Under the sink was where most of the dishes were stored and they were filthy, not to mention it was caving in under there. Our bathroom door could not even be closed, the door jam had a big problem. Every time I tried to unlock room door from outside, it took me a good minute of struggling to get it unlocked with the old key they gave us. The door knob came off. We had no chairs for the shared balcony outside our room. There were drunks hanging out all over the shared balcony. The pool area was covered in cigg. butts and the beach had them all over too, not to mention my husband almost stepped on a broken beer bottle. The room phone rang one morning starting at 4 AM, when I would answer no one would be on the other end, this continued for at least an hour to the point I had to unplug the phone. The power to our room went out almost daily. The only good thing I can say about this place is the maids were nice and helpful and courtious. The price was wayyy to high for what you got here. Honestly.. I am telling you the truth.. don't stay here, pay a little more and stay someplace nicer. We also had to park across the street on numerous occasions due to the super small parking lot...the place is about to fall down.. old and dumpy. Reminded me of an old hotel where men stay when they go on fishing trips.. no place for a vacation! Trust me.. don't stay here.

keep in mind you get what ya pay for. if you want clean sheets daily you have to ask they dont wash them daily just as you wouldnt at home to save energy. our family went on a road trip in 2008 we happened by this palce and decided to check it out. i am so glad that we did. it might not be the most update place but for being beachfront and having a pool it didnt break the bank. later in 2008 my now husband proposed to me. i knew just the place i wanted to get married so we took another trip to this hotel and got married. the staff was very helpful and and us feel like we were family to them. it very kid friendly and clean.

“I really liked the oceaneer motel, I will stay here again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

The Oceaneer Motel was a very good motel. I loved the location! I walked out my door and could walk straight to the beach. It was close to all the attractions. The room was neat and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. The pool was nice, but we stayed on the beach most of the time. The mattress and sheets were clean. It is a small motel nothing fancy, but I would recommend this motel to anyone. We had a light bulb out and within two minutes it was fixed. To me it was perfect. This was my little girl's first time to the beach and my first time to Carolina Beach and we had a great time. The next time we are down that way we are staying at the Oceaneer.
