We stayed here for 2 nights December 2011. It was one of only a few hotels open. The cost was really good, room sized nicely and always a plus to have a microwave and fridge in the room. The view was wonderful. The negatives were poor to non existent wifi, poor lighting in the room and a shower that wasted an enormous amount of water. The wifi kept cutting in and out. There were no lights over the sofa or table making it impossible to read on the sofa or play games at the table in the evening. When taking a shower plenty of water came out of the shower but an equal amount continued to come out of the shower. An awful lot of water was wasted.

first trip to Carolina Beach so we rented sight unseen and relied on Trip Advisor ratings. It was a wonderful hotel. Very clean, have a 100% rating from the city for cleanliness. Room was up to date, clean, air/heat worked well. Balcony door worked well and the balcony was a great addition to the room. We did not request maid service but were able to get anything we needed either from the office or the cleaning staff. Indoor pool was OK. Not warm enough for me. Off season rate was $79 for double queen room which included couch, refrigerator and microwave. Nice area, can walk to restaurants and bars. I ran to Kure Beach pier in the mornings. Took great photos from the balcony. Tiki bar on their pier is a good additiona, as is their gift shop. Staff very friendly and helpful. Did not try out the restaurant. No complimentary breakfast. Mattresses were updated as were the bedspreads, blankets, and bathrooms.

i am a former broadcaster from the carolinas''102.7 gni'' and b100 radio.....we always stay at the golden sands motel for the cleanest rooms.elevator.and easy parking not to mention a great view of the ocean and great food at the restaurant down stairs.....will be going back as often as i can....also a ham radio operator and when i take my hand-held radio the 3ed floor is perfect for reaching different repeaters in the area.......rick from fayetteville,nc.....fcc call is k4fnc

I always stay at Golden Sands every time I go to Carolina beach. This time I went alone. I felt perfectly safe. This hotel has always been immaculate. Great people that own and operate G. S. Very friendly, helpful housekeeping. Refreshing indoor, outdoor pool. This place has a convenient and tasteful restaurant adjoining the hotel. Also, there is a tiki bar on the pier. Overall, G.S. is the perfect place to stay.
