“Awful”

The hall to the non smoking rooms reeks of cigarette smoke. The bathroom is so tiny you can not open the door without hitting the toilet, mold growing on walls and shower curtain. The rooms are outdated, linens need to be replaced badly and just very dirty looking. As a preferred customer of choice hotels my bill is suppose to be slipped under my door for speedy check out, did not happen. When I went to the front desk to check out, the wife of the owner who was working the front dek and breakfast room was so busy checking out in a timely manner was impossible. If your in the NC mountains keep driving, Ashville is just 10 mins down I40 and well worth the extra drive, avoid this place.

“Disappointing Comfort Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I was booked to stay at a Comfort Inn in Asheville but a downpour detoured me off I 40 to this hotel. Having stayed in Comfort Inns frequently, I find they're generally pretty good. However, this Inn looks very run down to me and badly needs refurbished. Carpeting was worn and bath and bed linens look like they need replaced to me.The bathroom is so small that I had to move out of the way to shut the door--and I am NOT a big person. One of the big reasons I stayed here was that they accepted my 3 pound dog--for an extra charge of $25. Believe me, my dog could not have made any noticeable damage to this place. Perhaps they have much better rooms if you are not traveling with a pet but the public spaces were not that nice either. Another problem is lack of restaurants. There is a McDonald's and Burger King (or Arby's??) nearby and apparently one local restaurant that I missed noticing. I wish I'd pulled off the road and waited for the rain to stop and gone on to Asheville. I did go on the Comfort Inn web site to let them know--and got an email from the hotel manager apologizing for my experience. But I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Move on to a nicer place if you want a good room.

“it got dark and I needed a room, wouldn't do that again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

yes - I was running late and needed a stay for the night. I tried my best and walked in the Comfort Inn in canton. The walk in price there is terribly high. Don't do that :) Later I was told you can walk in and use the inside telephone to call the comfort inn reservation hotline - you would then get a much better rate.

The mister at the front desk tried to convince us to stay, by pointing out that we would not find any other place in the Smokey Mntns area that has space and is cheaper - we believed him (he could have told us the trick about the phone - his wife later did).

the room itself was OK. clean and not smelly. The aircon is huge and old and if you turn it to a higher level you probably don't get too much sleep. If not - you'll enjoy a good night.

The breakfast was great and the lady at the frontdesk very friendly.
For this price however I would never ever stay there again.

Room Tip: book in advance!! or if you walk in - walk straight to the telephone and call the comfort inn reserv...

“Great room for large family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Was traveling with my daughter and four young grandchildren and my nephew age 16. Stopped to sleep while en route. After explaining about all the sleeping children they gave us a wonderful 2 room suite with pull our sofa, 2 double beds and a king size bed. We had more than enough sleeping places. I commented during check out how I liked the room and the owner said he had assembled the room for large traveling families. The room was clean, and beds very comfortable. The next morning we let the kids sleep in so I don't have comments on the continental breakfast. I gave this hotel 5 stars based on our one night of stay.
