We had just gotten married and had booked our honeymoon suite at a different hotel that was way more expensive and a mile from the beach off of the Albemarle Sound. When we arrived at our honeymoon paradise we found it engulfed in smoke from a wild that was burning that summer. Due to our inability to breath in the thick smoke we were forced to cancel our prior reservations and continued to travel south down the outer banks in attempts to find anywhere to stay. At this point we had been driving for 9 hours and I was in tears and exhausted. I had not expected perfection out of my wedding, but somehow I had anticipated the honeymoon would be perfect. We just needed a place to stay for one night. With some help from my parents they found Cape Hatteras Bed and breakfast only an hour away and reserved a room. We passed by numerous cheap hotels and held out. I must admit that I expected the worst. IN comparison to the price of the other hotel that we originally booked the B&B was ½ the price and I did not expect much quality. What I found again proved me wrong.
The room was well put together and accommodated our every need. We had the privacy we desired in a cozy comfortable room. The beach was within walking distance so no need to get sand in the car. They provided bikes, beach towels, umbrellas, filtered cold water, coolers, and beach chairs. Cape Hatteras itself is such a gem with the small town feel. Right down the St, within walking distance is a wonderful, family run restaurant called Diamond Sholes where we found the Best food. We even found a awesome little jewelry store called Family Jewels in Manteo where the owner of the store makes her own hand blown glass beads for all types of jewelry. Her product was very authentic and uniquely beautiful.
True to its name, Breakfast was served every morning and we got to choose from a fabulous menu. Virginia is a culinary master and everything was wonderful! The beaches were pristine and not crowded. The lighthouse could be seen easily from the end of the road and walked to within a quarter mile on the beach. We only planned to stay one night at first, for we did not know what to expect. After we got there we stayed for as long as we could until the rooms were booked and we could no longer stay. What a wonderful vacation and honeymoon, one never to forget. The Inn Keepers, Virginia and Jed seemed more like friends than Inn Keepers. I recommend this place a million times over on all accounts. Excellent service, price, cleanliness and hospitality. I just hope the word doesn’t get out too much and we have to book our reservations years in advance. Thanks guys!!
