“Super clean, comfortable, & best pet-friendly motel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We thought we lost the key when we first arrived, so my husband moved some of the furniture to try to find it. What we found was that our room was spotless, not even a dust bunny to be found... even though it's pet-friendly. The owners, Bill & Angie, are attentive, personable, and make you feel right at home. The kitchenette was compact and very convenient, well-stocked for making simple meals and snacks, with a nice little breakfast bar to eat at. Love the original hardwood floors, so much cleaner than carpeting. King bed was extremely comfortable. Our yellow lab was very comfy and right at home too. She loved it. Market right across the street that you can walk to. Within a couple miles of beautiful beaches.

“Best place to stay on the Outer Banks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Like past stays, the service and hospitality I received on my last stay was great! The room was clean and comfortable. Several places to eat are within walking distance from the hotel and the Cape Hatteras lighthouse is a short drive away.

“Very Hospitible Hosts”

We booked a suite as a start to our 1 wk vacation in Frisco, NC. We were scheduled to move into a vacation rental the following afternoon but as a way to avoid the horrendous Saturday traffic we opted to come a day early. Most locations were looked at would not rent for one night on a summer weekend but Cape Pines was able to accommodate us. We were even able to get a late checkout and a promise that we could "hang out" at the pool even after check out while waiting for our vacation house to made ready. Like most of those who service the tourists on Hatteras Island the hosts/owners at Cape Pines do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable.

The room was a two bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchen. TV's in both bedrooms as well as the living area. Each bedroom had its own AC with a shared bathroom. Cape Pines has been there a long time (I know someone who stayed there as a teenager and he is now in his late 50's) and while it is not the most modern hotel you will find it is clean and has all the amenities you will need for a nice stay in Buxton. The hotel is pet friendly and be sure to see the skateboarding dog.

This is our second stay (maybe third) and will stay again.

“Would definitely stay there again”

Stayed here for 6 nights on birdwatching trip. Quiet, clean. Would definitely stay there again. Staff friendly and helpful. My room was rustic with nice wooden floors (no wall-to-wall carpets that are rarely clean) and wooden panelling on the walls. Although pets are allowed, my room showed no indication of any furry critters and there was no noise from any pets staying at the hotel. Air conditioner worked well, and I could even have a window with a screen open for some fresh air.

“Very confused by many reviews.”

Booked because of trip advisor reviews . . . but apparently I did not read enough of them to get the full picture! This place has 3 distinct sections of rooms, pehaps other rooms are in better shape. My room had water stains on the ceiling, peeling paint, holes in the wall, etc . . . The view from the balcony included a POWER STATION and a supermarket - not exactly what I look for in a vacation spot! Overall, the room was old and tired (but, as most reviews attest, spotlessly clean). The room was not level - anything placed on the desk, fridge or micro would eventually slide off, and we both felt like we were sliding to the foot of the bed. The motel is right next to the electric coop, in neighborhood of single-wide trailers and businesses. The picinic area resembles the exercise yard at a minimum security prison. There were old mattresses stacked outside in two locations, incomplete landscaping, trash and debris in the yard and around the pool. The motel is cheap, and looks and feels it. I have stayed at ocean front hotels nearby for less money. Stay here if all you care about are "pet-friendly" and "clean floors." If you want well-appointed, convenient and comfortable, keep looking. It is not the worst place I've ever stayed, but it does not live up to many of the reviews I read. I really have to wonder where they came from . . .
