We just returned from a 5 night stay at Cleer Creek Ranch. This was the perfect fall desination vacation. I can't give enough praise to the staff at the Ranch - I mean everyone. The Wranglers, Kitchen staff, Chefs, Maintenance, Guides into town and of course Rex and Aileen were wonderful. At the end of the stay we felt like we were leaving family. The food was wonderful. If you had any special requests they went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met.

Our cabins were very clean - even near the end of the season. Carpets were in wonderful condition in the cabin and the beds were very comfortable. This isn't always the case at a ranch. The temperature outside was very cold at the beginning of our stay. However, the pool was heated warm enough for our children to still swim. Also, there was always a roaring fire and hot chocolate or coffee and snacks waiting for us when we returned from our rides.

The horses were great quaility. The wranglers had no problem matching riders to horses that were compatible with our riding abilities. Wonderful trails. My children loved going on the Haunted Trail. We went on a morning and afternoon rides. One afternoon Scott lead a group of guest in a team penning competition. This was lots of fun. You really get to work with your horse and family to get the job done. In between rides our kids shot basketball, played ping pong and pool. They also went fishing at the pond.

I LOVED having no cell service. You were truly able to get away from it all. There is a phone line at the lodge if anyone needs to contact you. We played checkers, uno, and dominoes at the lodge in the evening. We also caught the college and NFL games there at night. There is WIFI in the lodge so you can keep up with e-mail as needed. The WIFI connection was very good.

We also loved that CCR had a driver and offered small excursions. One afternnon Van took part of our family to Little Switzerland to the Gem Mine. My boys LOVED panning for gems. This was a great outing. We also went to see local artists one morning - glass blowing, pottery making, feather painting, a One-of-a Kind art store, and Lavender Farm (Mountain Farm). This was a highlight of our trip as well.

My husband and I went with our 3 children aged 14, 20 and 22. We went in the kids holidays when they had the kids activities. This was our first time riding horses. The horses were lovely, they were gentle and well behaved. We went riding twice a day. The wranglers were all really nice and very helpfull. The food was good and it was nice to sit and talk to different people at meal times. Everyone at the ranch was very friendly that included staff and guests. The scenery at the ranch is beautiful. On saturday afternoon there are competions for everyone to join in, it was great fun. We went tubing on the river several times the kids thought it was great, my husband and i enjoyed it too. There is plenty of activities on duirng the week including line dancing. Rex and Aileen the hosts are wonderful people. Our children thought this was the best holiday they had ever had. At the ranch we made freinds with some of friendliest people. Its a great place for a family holiday. Thank you to all the staff and guests for making our stay so pleasurable.

I came to Clear Creek for a girls' weekend. I had such a great time. Horseback riding was great. The service from everyone was friendly and helpful when needed. I can't wait to go back!!!

We just came back from a girls weekend at Clear Creek Ranch! We were there from 9/30 to 10/2. The trip was amazing. The entire place had stunning views of Mt Mitchell. The food was served family style and was very good! It was so nice to meet other people who were also staying at the ranch and get to know the workers. There were several rides a day and the horses were very well trained. We were lucky enough to be paired with Scott, one of the head wranglers. He was very patient to work with our varied riding levels and personalities! Also, I am sure it has been mentioned your cell will not work and there is no TV's in the cabins. I was worried about this at first, but it turned out great. We were rarely in our rooms and it was nice to really leave work at home for a weekend. Overall it was a great trip and I would recommend this place for anyone.
