“Out-dated room decor; gross carpet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The lobby gives a great first impression, but the rooms are gross. The room furniture was ancient, bulky and out-dated. The bed was about a foot away from the TV and you had to be laying on your side (or get a crick in your neck looking to the side) in order to see the TV from the bed...and you couldn't really see the TV from any where else in the room.

We had a room with a balcony...the balcony over-looked the Interstate. The balcony was too narrow for any furniture or to sit on, but there was plenty of room for the styrofoam bowl that contained water and 5 cigarette butts from a previous guest. Gross!

The carpet in the rooms was old, dirty, and felt gross. I was afraid to walk barefoot on it.

The Internet connection was super spotty, and I couldn't get an Internet connection to stick more than a minute or so. The Internet kept dropping off....over and over and over again.

The bathroom layout is super awkward and VERY tiny. The door to the shower/toilet opens inward which makes exiting difficult.

The front desk staff was very sweet, but the out-dated room decor, not very clean room, spotty Internet connection, and NO free breakfast means I will be looking for other options (too bad as I'm pretty loyal to the Marriott brand and have to stay in Burlington, NC one night every week for the next four months). But I just can't stomach the ugly.

“One of Several Acceptable Hotels in the Area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

One of several acceptable hotels near Alamance Crossing near the interstate. This hotel is next door to the Hooters and near the Wal-Mart.

Thought the beds were on the soft side. Perhaps they were firm mattresses with a soft layer on top. Nevertheless a restful place and quiet. Don't recall any noise next door or in the hallway.

Staff friendly and helpful

A few things I didn't like. There was free coffee in the lobby, but only for a few hours in the morning. Then it disappeared. Thought that was a bit cheap. Other hotels in the area have it available 24 hours a day. Also, not really visible. You have to look for it a bit. The other thing I didn't like was the eating facility that became part of the lobby. Looked like a fast food arrangement. Menu was "Burger-King" style on a wall behind a service counter. Tables in front. Thought that it took away from the dignity of the place. Also, the lobby had a food smell, sometimes resembling old oil. Could be the limited availability of free hidden coffee was so that you would buy coffee at the resto in the lobby.

Free Wi-Fi, flat screen TV that could have been a bit larger, coffee machine in the room.

Breakfast wasn't included, so gave that a miss.

Nothing really wrong with the place, but I would try another place next time to see how that was. Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn close by. Also a Best Western that is older, but comes with a free (and unusually good) breakfast. Also the free coffee there is always available.

It didn't really feel like a Marriott to me. Seemed like the hotel was happier that my money was staying there rather than me as a guest.

“Good option for a business traveler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Ended up choosing this hotel because I had to travel for work. The hotel is outside of Greensboro in Burlington. There were enough options to keep you happy. The service was great and the condition of the hotel looked good. The rooms looked ok but the beds could use some new mattreses. Otherwise this is a good option if you are doing work in the area.

“Lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

We switched hotels in the middle of a two night stay to this one. The lobby is modern and inviting and the staff warm. Though quite modern, the lobby area was very comfortable too. The breakfast is not included but I had a healthy choice and free Starbucks coffee. My only criticism is that the breakfast bar area is not open enough hours.

The rooms were not quite as newly updated as the lobby, but it was fresh and clean. There was a small fridge and microwave. There was a fire alarm in the middle of the night, which made for difficult sleeping but to no fault of the hotel.

“New decor in lobby and Starbucks cafe are SWEET!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The lobby opens onto a really nice, comfortable dining area that is quite attractive, as well as a large room where one may rest while waiting (on a woman, on a man, on a kid, whatever!). You have to pay for the food, but it is nice and fresh-such as yogurt parfait with fresh strawberries and granola. When was the last time you had fresh cut fruit at a hotel breakfast?
Hotel is kept fresh and clean, staff is courteous. Pool area in back is nice. Best in the area, by far. Finding the drive is tricky and signage is poor, but you can do it! Also, you do not have to cross the highway to get back to Elon University.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back-not streetside; but be warned it is a longer walk to the elevators,
