We needed something close to Bryson City as we had family also in the city and didn't fancy travelling for an hour to get accomodation at a rate we could afford. We spotted the sign advertising the motel at the traffice intersection by Subway and headed up there. We were given a discount as we were staying more than one night and ended up saving about 20% off what we would have paid at full price. The family running were slowly refurbishing it and were very open about their plans and if they are able to carry on as planned I hope and think they will achieve their aims. The rooms are a bit dated at the moment but have a wonderful homely feel to them. With the baby the room we had was probably a bit too small but being on the first floor meant that we were able to open the door and she could crawl around outside on the grass whilst I sat at the table and chairs outside the room (every other room has this), I thought the rocking chairs and area on the second floor where you could sit and chat overlooking the Smokey Mountains was quanint and I wish I had gone up to have to look now.

The pool was out of order as they were cleaning it out and repainting it. The internet was a bit unreliable for the first few days but once it was sorted it worked really well.

When we left we were also told that if we wanted to use their linked property at our destination just to mention their name. If we are back in the area and unable to stop with family again we'll be checking back in.

Everything is so clean and the grounds are covered in flowers, hanging plants, and manicured bushes. The owners and thier staff are warm and welcoming. Actually, everyone that we met staying there were friendly. The Ridge Top is laidback and relaxing. I'm headed down there right now with my kids and my husband who has just gotten back from Afghanistan.

My husband and I, along with 6 other couples stayed at the Ridge Top Motel, on a suggestion from other fiends who said that we couldn't go wrong with it. I'm so glad that we did, within 15 minutes of arriving, we decided that we liked it so much that we wanted to stay a second night. Kathy (one of the owners) went out of her way to accomodate our needs and managed to get this accomplished for us. This is a family owned and operated motel / camp ground and the service was unlike any that I've ever received anywhere else!!! The view is amazing, and it's centrally located. It is a biker friendly establishment. Kathy & Chad, Keep up the fabulous work, we will definitely be back for another stay. You helped make our vacation extremely fun and memorable!!! We were astounded at the great service we received at this motel. We had a very late night arrival and were greeted in the parking lot by one of the owners who helped us get parked and welcomed us to their hotel. During our stay we enjoyed relaxing both on the patio and by the pool after our day of exploring. The owner were always available for questions, conversation or directions.
