This campground is the best in the Boone area. We arrived August 2011 to move our daughter into college. The staff were so very helpfull. They assisted in helping us back into our site and get things straight. We were camping in a pop-up and had to re-position it due to the level of the ground. But this is expected during mountain camping. It was a great site. Two of the best nights sleep I have had in months. The stream is the calling card for this campground. My daughters loved it. The atmostphere was so relaxing. Plenty of rocking chairs at the office/game room/store to just site back and make new friends. The bathhouses were nice and well kept. We have already booked two more dates this year. The staff are more than nice they helped several campers with problems with their campers to get repairs etc. We checked all the other local campgrounds and there is nothing better than Flintlock Campground. The tent sites are also great as well as if you have a larger motor home. YES there is a sharp turn to get into the campground but come one folks were are talking about mountain camping. If you want flatland go to the beach. We have found our new home when we camp in the high country. Lastly for people wanted to use the cabins they are excellent. So is the playground.

This was our first time here, but not our last. We tent camped...great tent sites, great showers and bathrooms very clean. water and electric hookup no extra charge ...One other really good thing was that there was no extra charge for fire pit - the KOA charge $10 for fire pits

Since our last visit for the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, not much has changed. The bathrooms and the cabin could have been cleaner this time. But the cabin/tent loop is still a great place for kids, with the creek, playground and wooded hill right outside your door. My son loved it. The folks running the place were cool about our dogs staying at our cabin - tied up on a long leash - while we were at the games, So we'll probably be back.

We stay here in a pop-up with our granddaughter. Wanted a site along the creek side with full hook-up but it was all booked up. I now know why, it's wonderful. We got to stay in a site across from the creek. It was nice and shaded. Everyone was so nice and friendly even the people with seasonal sites. It's a small campground but it is kept clean. Granted, it's a little hard to find because you can breeze right by it and not know it's there. But I like that. I also love it's so near everything. We have stayed at the KOA before but like this campground better. We will be back next year. See you then, Sam.
