“Shame on Appalachian for such low quality accommodations!”

We had friends in town and wanted to let their entire group use our home. So we packed up for a mini vacation and checked into the Broyhill. Our room was outdated, smelled musty, was tiny and had huge discussing stains on the upholstered chair. The bathroom was small and there was mold growing on the shower chalking. While the view out the dining room window was gorgeous, it simply didn't balance out the worn, rundown facilities. What a sad represention of such a beautiful campus.

“place for a conference”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2010

Was here for a conference. There is no elevator (or if there is we could not find it). One room was very very small and there was a french fry under the bedside table. Was trying to find an electrical outlet for the cellphone charger. Our room was bigger but the shower was hard to work. One of our party could not get the shower to come on, just too hard to pull the knob. The conference room was nice except for the microphone for several of the speakers. The food at lunch was delicious. Only one of the waffle makers was working...there was a line so I did not wait at breakfast.

Thank you for your honesty. We are planning a guestroom renovation this late winter, early spring.. The rooms will be enhanced with new double queen beds, new bedding etc and we hope to be able to do some work on the showers and tubs while we have them out of order. Thank you, Doug, at the Broyhill Inn

“Old, tired, and musty smelling”

First, the good news. Great location on campus and one of the cheaper hotels in Boone.
But you get what you don't pay for. The hotel Is OLD and in serious need of an update. Breakfast was one of the worst I've seen at a hotel. And the bathroom is super small. The rooms are small and smell musty. Overall, not really worth it unless $$ are your only consideration.

“Safe, Friendly, comfortable and resonably priced”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2010

On my way to Winterplace WV, I was scheduled to stay at Sleep Inn in Boone, but due to some circumstance, our room was not available, so they arranged for us to stay at the Broyhill Inn above the Appalachian State campus. We found it to be very nice, comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked the lazyboy in the room. My wife will be going back to visit our daughter for a weekend and she booked a room at the Inn. I checked other hotel rates, and the Broyhill actually had the best rate, and was $10 lower than, what I would consider, the least desirable hotel in town. The Broyhill also offers a breakfast in the dining room, but we had to leave well before the opening, so I can't report on the quality, although it is known for it's great meals and atmosphere.

“Bad choice all the way around”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2010

Here's the list:
1. We asked for early check-in (noon) and were told they could do that
2. Arrived a little after noon and were told the room wouldn't be ready until 1:30 p.m.
3. Got into the room and the heat was set so high, it was suffocating. Tried to get assistance and they sent a housekeeper who told me that all the suites were always really hot. Turned the fan off and couldn't breathe without some type of circulating air. Turned the thermostat down to 60 hoping the air conditioning would kick in. No such luck. Windows in the suite were solid glass and could not be opened. It was a miserable night.
4. Got home and realized they had charged us twice for the room. Called and were told that the first charge was a hold on our debit card that would go away after three business days and the second charge was the actual charge.
5. Talked with the manager the next day and he said it was an error on the part of the desk clerk and he would issue credit. Still waiting to see if that happens. Have my doubts.
