We didn't book a room before we came down late Friday evening. We couldn't find a room this is all they had in the Boone area. It's not the type of motel we would normally stay at, but we needed some to stay. Once here it looks awful from outside, but the rooms are clean, larger type of rooms, micerwave, and small fridge. Amenities suck very bad, very small towels, no shampoo or body wash or nothing, there is a coffee machine but no cofffee. Also, nothing against them but there is all kinds of mexicans crawliing around and playing loud music.I think the mexican people are long term workers for the aread. Pool is aswome here, couldn't ask for a better pool

The towels are really thin and old. The tv reception wasn't great, and the service was kind of eeeehhhhh! I don't understand. I am homeless and trying to find a place to live that is close to where I work, But they want 365 a week to stay there and refuse to do a reduced monthly rate. Why? I have no idea. The owners try to get every penny that they can from people that stay there. And Movie rentals are 2 dollars, not for dvds, but for old used vhs tapes. They don't have anywhere to hook up dvd players on the tvs either. They need to upgrade. The town of boone shut down the other hotel they had right next to it. Talk about trash!

Great price, good location, great service...but I was eaten alive by bedbugs. Take some sort of repellent and spray if you stay.

For someone who is on the road often, I have to watch my bottom line and forgo the amenities in search of a good, clean, quiet place to take a shower and snooze. If you're looking for high class accommodation, this is not for you. Perfect stopover for AT hikers and bikers and itinerant trades-people.

I booked the Red Carpet at the last minute/ walk in in early August of '09. The price was unbeatable. The last room I got for this cheap was a filthy, bug infested, mystery-stain-on-the-carpet, shooting gallery with hair in the sheets.

The Red Carpet in Boone has a quaint little pool.There's a VHS lending library in the lobby if Western NCs cable TV choices of Christian programming, the "COPs" channel or the Bill Dance channel aren't your speed. Oh, and free wifi too!
