This is a wonderful place to stay. Paul & Cindy are absolutely the best host and hostess. The house use to belong to the Lowe & Banner family who were some of the first settlers inthe area. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is fantastic. They have an incredible way of making one feel right at home. The decoration inside the house and relaxing porch invites one to relax with coffee, wine or whatever they need...they always have chocolate chip cookies available. Paul & Cindy treat you like family and whenever we are in the area - our family will always stay at the Turnpike B & B.

The Banners

We've stayed at the 1902 Turnpike House B&B three times now, and we look forward to staying many more times in the future. In fact, I can't imagine our trips to NC mountains without a stay at Cindy and Paul's great B&B. Nicer folks you'll never meet, better food you'll never eat, and the house is as peaceful and relaxing as you can imagine. We've been there during Christmases and during summers and enjoyed both seasons. This past July we sat on their back porch and within two hours we identified 13 different species of birds visiting their garden/birdfeeding area. There are always fresh cookies, cider, drinks, etc., so it really feels like a home away from home. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Took my senior adult group for a weekend and as soon as we pulled into the yard we were met by Cindy and Paul. Cindy hugged us and she and Paul welcomed us into the house and gave us a brief history of it. We were shown around and then were given time to settle into our rooms.

The food was absolutely wonderful and there was always something to eat. The front porch was so inviting with the rockers and porch swing. We spent alot of time out there and did our group devotions there.

Sitting in the parlor was a night time favorite of ours while sipping on coffee and eating delicious homemade cookies.

I honestly have to say that out of all the B&B's my husband and I have stayed in the 1902 Turnpike House has the BEST innkeepers!

only thing we didn't like were the breakfasts; they are terribly sweet.
