“Disgusting”

On a fall foliage trip we found this Motel. Being Columbus Day weekend....without reservations there was not much of a choice. We should have drove further that night. The first thing we noticed was the musty smell of our room. When contacted the owner said they are working on the problem. Well they must be working on the washers also....our linens were disgusting. My children were hilkng in the rear of the motel and found plenty of tires and assorted junk. AVOID THIS PLACE !!!!!

“Just terrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

We were in the area for the Ironman triathlon. We were expecting to get a nice lodge where we could enjoy our time off and relax. First of all, the carpet imn the room was disgusting. The matresses were older than my grand father and I was not even able to open the door to access the balcony. Antway, the green carpet on the balcony was so dirty and full of insects that I didn't want to go outside. We had breakfast the day after the race. The restaurant is nice but it took us 90 minutes to get our 2 eggs. The 2 young ladies working were obviously new and between smoking outside and answering to the clients at the lobby, they had to work in the restaurant. What the heck, I finished my third ironman. Seriously, don't go there and now I understand why they still had vacancy prior to the race.

I wish I could help this guest I feel terrible that he/she did not enjoy their stay with us. It would have been extremely helpful had they brought there concerns to our attention during their stay so we could have assisted at that time. We are fully booked for Iron Man well in advance each year so I don't understand the just driving by and deciding to stay. All of our rooms for this period are booked directly though Iron Man USA, we don't have walk ins. But never the less since purchasing this lodge Greg and I have worked tirelessly to see that each of our guests enjoy their stay with us. Sometimes we will fail. Iron Man is a crazy week but still if even a part of this is the truth then we will try to work harder and do better. Chris Santa, Owner

“Great service, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2010

My boyfriend and I planned a weekend away in Lake Placid/Wilmington. We chose the Adirondack Holiday Lodge for it's value and we were not disappointed. Awesome owners, on-site and hands-on. The lodge lobby is very warm and welcoming, with delicious breakfast. They offer a pancake breakfast on Sunday mornings - delicious! The accommodations are not a luxury hotel - keep this in mind when booking because some people who've reviewed seem to forget that it's a ski lodge, not the Waldorf Astoria. The rooms are VERY clean, very rustic and "Adirondack" style. Again, not a luxury hotel but perfect for skiers and those not looking for a luxury vacation. The only downside was the loud neighbours staying in the room beside is. Teenagers - so they were a bit loud at 7am getting ready for the slopes. Thanks for the great stay!

“What a dump!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

Regretfully a few friends and I came to town for a family party. It was a busy weekend and there was no hotels open from the entire weekend until we came to the Holiday. As I remember growing up in this town, it was a fun place to hang out, beautiful pool, hot tub and wonderful breakfasts. Unfortunately this stay was not as impressive. Not only did one of our beds have a dead cockroach in it, the owner assure us that it was impossible to have cockroaches. Yet people from all over the US stay in the hotel including such events as Iron Man, making it very possible to carry roaches in to room not cleaned after the stay. The carried an old TV in for us because the room had nothing in it. The bathroom was filthy, and even the most comfortable of us purchased flip flops just to take a shower with. We put dirty towels on the floor together to make it easier for the cleaning girl, but apparently she didn't care because she folded them back up dirty and wet, and put them right back. Perhaps the owner is not aware of his lazy employees or maybe he doesn't care. The overall musky smell coming from the rooms and lobby was the topper, I couldn't get rid of it. My hair smelled terrible, my clothes smelled terrible, I came home smelling like I had stayed in a basement and pretty much, that is how we felt. Had we had another choice, we would have done so...in fact, next year we will not even stay in this town. If the owner is doing renovations, great but maybe he should stop renting and start renovating because this place is nearly condemned.

“Great Bargain - Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2009

My two skiing buddies and I just returned from a 3-day stay at the Adirondack Holiday Lodge. The management was very friendly and it was great to find a motel within 3 miles of Whiteface Mountain that had everything we wanted. It is an older place (1950s issue), but came under new management recently, so some of the older reviews on this site are no longer germane. The motel offered a complementary breakfast, and the hot tub and sauna were great after being on the slopes all day. The lobby area is large and has a fireplace and WiFi so you don't feel confined to your room. The management also gave us a good recommendation for dinner: Wildlife Lodge - about 1 mile away - definately worth a visit.
