I won three nights at this place on Princeline for $60. I was hoping for the Fairfield on College Pt Drive.
The good: convenient..on Whitestone Expressway Service Road near 20th street. Close to a Target, Walbaums (supermarket), Circuit City, etc. Looks recently renovated, Carpet looked new, etc. Free parking. Safe neighborhood. Wireless $5 for entire stay...good connection. Good size room and normal sized beds (not European doubles). Front desk people friendly. Clean room.
The so so: Never stayed at Extended Stay so nothing to compare. No dish soap to wash dishes. We ended up not using the kitchen outside of the fridge and microwave to keep and heat up doggie bags from restaurants. Room had a slight smell so i picked up a $1 air freshener to fix. Cabinets in kitchen a little rickety. $10 upgrade per day for 2 double beds. Cleaning only once a week (not a big deal since we were here three days) You can pay extra for extra cleanings. Not convenient to city if you dont have a car. #7 line station (Fiushing and Main) a few miles away...no shuttle.
There is a good diner about 1.5 miles away called Uncle Bill's Diner for breakfast. Cross over the expressway at 20th and walk down to Stratton street. It's residental and safe. Clean, good food and reasonable.
For what I paid on Priceline(including the extra $10 night), it came out to $270 for 3 nights. You can't beat that for 2 beds in a safe area with parking.
