I cannot begin to explain how bad this hotel is, I honestly can't believe this is a legal hotel. It took us over 40 minutes to check in, the building is in shambles, our room was terrible and had no heat! When we called the front desk they said of course it had heat. But after we waited freezing for a half hour for it to go on we called back. they check ed with maintenance and confirmed that it did not have heat and offered to bring up a space heater. The bathroom was filthy. The floors and rug were so gross I wouldn't touch my bare feet to the ground. I wouldn't sit on the upholstered furniture because it was so gross. The blankets my partner called buffalo skins they were so thick and rough. I have traveled all over the world and there is only one hotel in Central America I've seen that is worse than this place. We couldn't bear to stay here and left, (free of charge since we had no heat, so that is good) going down the road to a nice hotel and spend the best 200 bucks for a worry free nights sleep that I have ever spent.

I stayed in The Esplanade for one month since I was working at a hospital in White Plains, I booked just one day before arriving because I could not find anything else that would have fit my needs. I arrived there very scared because I had read all the other awful reviews here, I was ready to almost get all my baggage and go if after I opened the room door I saw anything I disliked.

Thank God, when I arrived there the lady at the front desk was really nice and helpful and when I opened my room it was just as it was pictured in their website!! i do not want to bore you with details but the room was cleaned every day, personnel were really nice, definitely NO rodents or cockroaches, bed was comfortable, heater was functioning properly, it had a small stove, microwave and refrigerator, and other kitchenware (pans, pots, silverware).

It does have is disadvantages (it is not a 5 star hotel), Fridays are really bad for sleeping since all the noise in the street is clearly audible in the room (at least were I was), people coming out from pubs and clubs made really loud noises but it was just on Friday nights, and yes, the room may need a little bit of remodeling but is nothing disgusting as it says in other reviews, breakfast is not perfect but bagels and muffins are not bad after a few seconds in the microwave.

This place is the worst!! It’s the blind leading the blind!!!! I don’t know any business person that would allow their company to be run so poorly. There are major management issues at affects employees and customers. I would never recommend anyone to do business with The Esplanade. I hope the owners take a good look at their business and who they allow to run it.

After we booked for one night by phone, and got the confirmation number, we had very bad surprise when we arrived to check in, the person behind the desk met us with a straight face, and shocked us when said there was no room available, we tried to find out how this could happen and what they can do to solve the issue, the person behind the desk was not helpful at all, just wanted to end the subject and move on, it was clear to us that this person should be the last one to work in customer service, people who work in customer service must be cheerful and problem solvers, but not this one. We left the hotel angry, and drove back to our destination, but the story hasn't finished yet, keep reading, after two days we talked to the manager, and told him what happened, he said "I am sorry", and promised full investigation, and would get back to us, and guess what? He never did it. I wonder if this would have happened to the person behind the desk or to the manager, what their feelings and reactions would be?
