“Tommy Tennis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

As a pro who was the director of City Parks NYC and has taught thousands of children tennis, this place has a great teaching staff and great meat in the kitchen. I don't know where they get it but it was gooood. So if food is important to you, this must be the place. I like it especially in the winter when it is quiet and there is not a soul around. I can even play tennis at the bubble down the road!! ****

Room Tip: 2nd floor all good

“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

It's not super luxurious but it's in a great location, it's clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My wife and I take our kids to Westhampton often and always stay at the Grassmere.

“the best tennis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

I go there several times a season. The tennis courts and pro's are great. The courts are kept in great shape. From the INN it's a quick 2 min walk to town where there is great shopping and lots of restaurants to choose from. The drive from the Inn to the tennis courts is about 8 minutes. drew nichols

“Great Customer Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

I have to compliment the owner on his customer service. My traveling companion and I were very disappointed that breakfast was not offered (even though Priceline said it was) the two days we stayed there on business. Even though this hotel is described as "Bed and Breakfast", Priceline was not aware that breakfast is not offered during the "off season". I called the owner while I was there and he explained that Priceline was mistaken. I was disappointed with this answer and was prepared to write a bad review because of this response, and that the rate I paid per night, I felt, should have included a breakfast. I have never stayed in a B&B before and was looking forward to experiencing a stay in a B&B. However, the owner called me back three days later to explain that he made the call to Priceline for me, and after many minutes on the phone with many representatives, I should expect a $50 rebate from Priceline. He also offered another stay at his place for this $50. I felt very accommodated and relieved that my concern and disappointment did not fall on deaf ears. I would recommend this place.

Room Tip: Call the owner. He asks you your plans and desired accomodations.

“So overpriced and not worth the money!!!”

It appears this place is a cute little B&B in the Hamptons, but I had a totally different experience. I made my reservation in June for an October wedding. My plans had changed so I tried backing out of the room and the owner gave me the hardest time; lecturing me about no refunds and how I will only get my money back if he can rent the room again. He was pretty rude on the phone. He charged me $185 for what was a somewhat cute room, except it looked like it was going to fall apart any minute. The door knob almost fell off in my hand. When we checked in, the staff was very aloof and could care less about what we were there for. This place is way overpriced and is not worth it!!!

The guest is accurate in some respects. However, she has neglected to advise some critical facts that would show her comments to have little legitimacy. She was made aware of our no refund cancelation policy prior to booking. She elected to accept it. She was given a room in the Hamptons that was precisely as described (super neat and clean in a great location but simply furnished (see below). for $165 plus tax per night on a busy Saturday night. We permitted her to check in 3 hours early for no additional charge. We provided breakfast though we had advised all we don't at this time of year. Summary. She did inquire in June about a room for a wedding in October. . That is correct. In June, she asked for the least expensive room with a private bath. I explained as I do to all guests that we have 2 buildings. One building is clearly superior to the other. However, both are neat and clean places to sleep. She advised she just wanted the least expensive room with a private bath. I advised her we were frequently 2 nights but we would take a few 1 night reservations at reduced rates. I further advised that the reservation would be fully non-refundable regardless of any change in plans. On busy weekends, we must shift the burden of the risk to the guest for any changes unless we can resell the room. That is advised to all!! We work with soldiers going off to war and returning. The funeral home. Weddings and parties being canceled. We simply are not in a position to assume the risk on nights we are going to be sold out. The season in the Hamptons is too short and weekend oriented. The prospective guest was advised that though we accept credit cards in general, for a reservation that far in advance on such a busy weekend the only method of payment we would accept would be a check so we wouldn't have to fight with a credit card company should her plans change. Our policy could not be clearer. The guest knowing the policy, rate, and description, elected to go ahead with the reservation and sent a check. The guest is correct in that she called and asked to "back out" of her reservation. Those words in and of themselves should advise she was very aware of all. Apparently her plans had changed. Who knows. I did not lecture her at all. In fact, if I was rude, why would I give every single guest, prospective guest, and all others my home phone number? It is posted all over the website, internet, etc. It is our regular home number. I explained that I would be happy to refund her money if we could resell the room. The guest has left out another factor here. She subsequently called (prior to the wedding), and said I was lucky. She would be coming to the wedding if the room was still available. It was and all seemed fine. Our Inn was completely sold out that night. We had booked around her reservation and in fact the guests who booked later had paid considerably more as she was advised they would. Most of the rooms in the area were $250 - 295 per night. By the way, she paid $165 plus tax for the room in the Hamptons on a Saturday night that was perfectly neat and clean. We are incredibly fussy about cleanliness as we are not a fancy place. We have received numerous honors and awards and it certainly isn't because we claim to be fancy. We advise people we are super neat and clean in a great location. Simply furnished. And, the main buliding is considered to be one of the nicer accommodations in the area. However, this guest simply wanted something as inexpensive as possible with a private bath. Our check out is by 11 am. That gives housekeeping enough time to clean and change a room for arriving guests who are advised check in is after 4 pm. We do not permit an arriving guest in a room without a housekeeper signing off on the room after cleaning and a front office person inspecting the room. That way, there are virtually no cleanliness complaints. However, this guest arrived approximately 2 - 3 hours prior to check in demanding to get in a room as she was getting ready for a wedding. We were still cleaning and inspecting. As it turned out, the room she was scheduled for happened to be cleaned and ready so we permitted her in. She paid $165 for a room with private bath in the Hamptons on a busy Ssaturday night that was perfectly neat and clean. She was permitted to check in approximately 3 hours early for no additional charge. Additionally, we had advised the guests prior to booking that we don't offer breakfast from October through April. Regardless, to be nice, we did provide breakfast.
