“Great place, we should have stayed longer.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

We loved it here. We missed one day of our stay due to road closures but we should definitely have stayed longer as we loved it so much. We stayed in the Garden Cottage which was very nicely decorated and had everything we needed. There were a lot of tourist info and suggestions for trips. Lots to do in the area. Chris and Paul were very friendly and booked restaurants for us and lent us the spade for the Hot Water Beach dig. Cooks Beach itself is absolutely lovely and just round the corner from the property When we left we forgot to write our appreciation in the visitors book but we really loved it and would make it our first choice if we return. We will send our comments for inclusion once we get back to the UK! Hopefully we will include a fishing trip next time and possibly a trip in the kayaks.

“Lovely property, rooms great, hosts fab”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2010

My wife and I stayed in the Pacifica suite for two nights. It is a lovely sized room with all amenities and more, beautifully maintained. Breakfast on the deck outside the room or further down the lovely garden is just great. We borrowed their kayaks to paddle from the creek at the bottom of the garden out to the sea, a very special experience. Not that cheap but overall worth the extra because you get extra.

“Amazing Hosts, Gorgeous Property, Excellent Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

My wife and I stayed at Mussel Bed B&B in early July 2010. We spent two nights in the Pacifica Suite. The B&B sits on a beautiful piece of property near a creek. At night it is so quiet and peaceful and dark (we could actually see the milky way with our naked eyes)! The room was clean, large and very cozy. Only a 15-20 minute walk (~3 minute drive) to the ferry which takes you across to Whitianga for shopping and dining.

Hosts Chris & Paul are just amazing and wonderful people. The lent us their bikes so we could do a little riding in the area. (They also have kayaks and other equipment which we didn't have time to use). They are informative and helpful. They also have extensive travel experience themselves so they know what you need. :) Breakfast is plentiful and varied, brought to your room in the morning.

“Captain Cook would have loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

A little "peace" of paradise with welcoming owners who maintain just the right level of contact with guests. Gorgeous subtropical garden which we were free to roam. We loved our stay & having been in the business ourselves we know how hard one has to work to meet expectations front & back of house. We stayed 3 nights. A nice touch was the fresh cakes each afternoon, not just on arrival.

The room whilst not huge was nicely furnished & comfortable. Large & comfotable bed. Sitting area inside & out (small deck area dor each of the 3 letting rooms). A clever use of space. Some might be happier if the shower & loo area had a door...it didn't bother us. Paul brought a lovely contrinental breakfast to the deck each morning with a quiet "good morning Nigel & Janina" to let us know. We breakfasted in bed & in the garden. There were other guests in close proximity but screening & separate deck access for each room worked fine for us.

Best to drive to nearby restaurants as no walkways by roads & when dark ...it's dark!!

A little gem with an accurate website so you get pretty much what it says on the tin. Good value for money we say! We will be back if we visit NZ & Coromandel again.

“Welcoming, excellent accommodation, highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

This was our first base on reaching New Zealand and we were delighed with the accommodation. Our room Pacifica was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace with warm fresh bread, lovely homemade muesli, fresh fruit, plenty to start the day. Our hosts Chris + Peter were always very helpful and informative to local eateries and sights to see.
A small comment is some may find the openness of the bathroom facilites a little off putting as there is no door. Did not bother us at all.
