“Friendly staff Crap Air Con”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2009

My wife and I stayed here with our 6 month old, as a base to check out the Margaret River Region. The motel is well located off the main high street in Dunsborough, close to shops & restaurants. We booked a standard room, which had adequate facilities. For $130 / night in high season, it was very reasonable for the three of us.

But there were some problems:
1) The air-con only pumped out warm air, so it was hotter in the room than outside. This made things uncomfortable with wee fella. We reported this on the second day. The staff sweetly told us it would be seen to. Alas no change for the rest of our stay.
2) The free movie system was down for the first night we were there, for which they apologised.
3) The cystern/pipes from other rooms are quite noisy.
4) Beware booking on a Friday night! The motel is right next to a bar/club (possibly called the Dunsborough/Marlborough or something like that). The music is naturally loud, but it's the bass which is really interminable. ~This wasn't fun at all. So I'd never stay again.

Finally then, very friendly staff, though nothing was changed when we asked. Also our room wasn't cleaned out on the first night.

As i paid my bill, I requested a discount on account of the air not working and was given 33% off which redeemed the stay as we were on a budget. Hope this review is helpful. Great area, wonderful vneyards most very close by car!

“Good basic accomodation but no restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2009

We chose Dunsborough as a base to tour the Margaret River area. The Best Western is a motel type accomodation but had no extra facilities other than providing a room. That said, the room was clean and comfortable and we had one with its own cooking facities which made it more convenient. There are however plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from.

The only slightly negative point worth mentioning is that some of the rooms face on to the main road (effecively a by-pass for the town) which would have been noisy. (Room numbers 1 to 10 or so).

“Meh”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2008

Its definitely motel-ey. I'm not sure I would suggest staying Dunsborough in general. It was pretty much a ghost town while were there (august.) Almost everything was closed everywhere all the time. The motel was dated, but that's to be expected. We definitely had some very spooky experiences in the middle of the night. I don't necisarily want to suggest that one of the rooms is haunted, but holy geez were we creeped out by some events.

We also wanted to get out early and weren't thrilled when we found out that reception didnt open until 7:30am. It delayed a long day of driving. Plus we were stuck trying to find something to do in an empty town for an hour.

“Perfect location and great motel”

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the best western in Dunsborough during the busy Easter period. The motel was pretty much what I expected out of a 3 1/2 star, clean rooms, nice little pool and spa, attentive house keeping etc.

Even with the busy time of year, the staff were very helpful and happy to help us hopeless tourists! A quick phone call for more towels quickly arrived, and checking in and out was trouble free.

The room did have its faults though, once I turned the bed side radio on I couldn't figure out how to turn it of, it was a dinosaur! So I simply turned the volume level to zero! Something not so funny as the leaking toilet, the base of the toilet had cracked somehow and a slow trickle of toilet water was seeping out.

One major advantage of staying here is the motel is located in the heart of town, so shops cafes, bakeries, pub, bottleshop list is endless is less than a 5 minute walk away.
