“Gorgeous accomodation but don't book the garden suite!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2010

We booked into abundance for 4 nights and on arrival we were extremely happy with the accomodation. The owners were lovely people and are very helpful when it came to information about the area. Our garden suite was perfect, with a gorgeous big comfortable bed and small kitchen facilities. One main disappointment about the garden suite was that the floor above is not sound proof at all and you can hear every foot step and every toilet flush!! For most of the mornings we were there the people upstairs woke at 6am and walked around for 2 hours which meant we did not get a sleep in and it was very frustrating!!!! We did mention it to the owners but there wasn't much they could do. My advice is to stay at abundance because it is a beautiful place but do not book the garden suite!! It was a pity as it really affected our stay. Eagle bay is the most beautiful place though and I would highly recommend a visit to the area!

“Lovely room and perfect fpr relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2009

We booked in to Abundance for two nights during the week, so we were offered a special rate which worked out to £100 per night and we were happy to pay this as it looked so luxurious. On arrival though they had lost my booking but luckily the room was free. The owner was very apologetic and it was fine in the end - but would have been a massive problem if the two rooms were booked.

We had the upstairs 'suite' and it really is a gorgeous room with incredible furnishings in amazing local wood and plush, high thread count linen. The room had a balcony that wrapped roound the whole room with a bbq and a view of the large, peaceful garden which was often frequented by kangaroos - great if you're from overseas and kangaroos are a novelty! The bbq was a great addition, as we did have a bbq one night.

The in-room breakfast was great and there was a lot to choose from, it was a great start to the day, cooked by the owner. The owner was very helpful during our stay and couldn't do enough to help us and even lent us her husbands phone charger.

The location was great in a very peaceful cul-de-sac and is close to the beach at Eagle Bay - you can walk down a track which takes about 10 minutes or hop in your car and drive down to Eagle Bay in a minute or so. There are so many incredible beaches in the area - we had a really great explore and loved the area.

We ate at a WineBar in Dunsborough in the evening one night and it was a great meal, very modern cuisine that you wouldn't necessarily expect to get in a small town.

Overall we loved our stay at Eagle Bay and we hope that when the owners sell the place that the new owners continue to offer this accommodation.

“Abundance is a great B&B but it is certainly not the luxurious place that is advertised!”

Abundance @ Eagle Bay.
It was abundantly clear when we first arrived as honeymooners the place was run down and definatively not what the web site purported . As we walked to our room, we noticed that the gardens were mostly dead or dying . The view was of dead bushland and gardens and the location was nowhere near the beach as the photographs on the website suggest.

It was difficult to drag our luggage to the house because the path is made of concrete slabs laid over grass . We carried the luggage up the two flights of stairs to our room and noticed that there was no safety rail on the bottom landing.

As we entered our room , we were struck by a wave of heat - the air conditioner hadn't been turned on prior to our arrival to cool the room . I turned on the conditioner which rattled and was very noisy. During our stay, we left the air conditioner turned on when we went out to avoid a repeat of this problem, but each time the owner turned it off again.

Unfortunately, the noise of the airconditioner prevented us from sleeping very well throughout our holiday. We mentioned the problem to the owners but they were not interested in providing a solution. We later found out that they were trying to sell the property.

The morning breakfasts were fantastic . The choice was fantastic and the owner cooks a great breakfast.

The web site advertises that you can have a professional chef prepare a meal in the privacy of your room so we booked this option. Unfortunately, there were no cooking facilties in the room so the meal is prepared in the owner's kitchen. We asked to watch the chef cook and the owners graciously allowed us to do so but that's not what the web site advertised.

The room was very nice . However, we noticed a few problems during our stay :
• the BBQ was very old, rusty and was not cleaned
• the shampoo and bath gels were not replaced after the first day. We had to ration our soap!
• the toilet paper was poor quality , very thin and hard.
• the TV and video/DVD did not work properly.
• the water tasted horrible even after it was filtered.
• Glasses were taken to be cleaned but not returned.
• no slip mat was provided in the bathroom. My wife slipped and bruised her leg badly, we reported the issue and received no response or care.

Abundance is a great B&B but it is certainly not the luxurious place that is advertised. It is not worth the $330 per night that was charged and the property is under serviced and run down.

“Perfect for Romance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2008

This place oozes tranquility and modern luxury. A beach house set minutes away from the water's edge, its not that hard to mistake it for a million dollar mansion in Malibu.

The house is surrounded by native bushland and the rooms are all stylishly appointed with local furniture and art. If you choose the breakfast/accommodation option, the food is wonderful and can be eaten outside your room in the beautifully manicured gardens and a five minute walk takes you to the secluded shores of Eagle Bay beach where you can swim, surf or go for a relaxing stroll.

The owners are very kind and one of them is always on hand if you need anything. Overall the place is perfect for honeymooners and couples seeking a romantic retreat with all of the luxuries expected from a 5 star city hotel.
