“Best Pizza, Perfect View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Being from Chicago, I KNOW PIZZA. Traveling back from the beaches of Sian Kahn with my buddy Shaun (also form Chi-Town), we saw a sign for "Brick Oven Pizza" at Blue Sky Hotel. We had a long day and decided to stop for refreshments. It was a great call.

This quaint modest Hotel was bathed in white, brick and stonework and is beautiful and soothing. We were met by a very nice women who sat us under a really cool wooden terrace.
(Another good call in July) right next to the brick oven.

After we ordered our pizza, we watched the chef make them up from fresh. Crisp crust with lots of toppings straight from the garden. (Really, the chef went to the garden and picked chives and basil right in front of us)

The drinks are superb and the beer is ICE COLD....

After eating, you can walk to Tankah Bay to sit and chill. (40 Feet!!!!) NICE!!!!

Tankah is a very quiet and relaxing residential area (10 or so houses) but only has a couple of eating establishments and MABEY 2 or 3 shops of higher end jewelry.

It's ALL about the Bay.

So go and visit Blue Sky's Resturaunt and see Tankah for all it's natural beauty and Chill.

Tell them "Chicago Joe" sent you....
P.S. I'll be there in January 2012.

“great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

I just returned from two weeks in the Yucatan -- we spent 5 nights at Blue Sky and I didn't want to leave it ! You can't ask for a more beautiful or tranquil setting, but with lots to do nearby. We had a suite with a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean. There's a cenote right across the street which was amazing and the kayaks there for the guests' use. The staff was wonderful to assist us with whatever we needed. We had a great meal at the restaurant, and there are some other places to visit . The entire experience was exceptional .

“Cute but showing signs of wear and tear”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2011

We ate at this hotel a year ago (2010) and found it to be a buzzing little spot so this year when we were looking for a place to spend a couple of extra nights after a week in a villa we thought of Blue Sky.

Unfortunately the atmosphere was not the same - we ate there on the first night (Saturday) and we were the only ones there. Shame.

However the rooms are pleasant, although a little dated and the balcony railing was broken. I don't think I would go back. Tankah bay is not as beautiful as Soliman Bay and there is not the atmosphere that you get at the beach end of Tulum. A little disapointed in our choice.

Dear,

There is always room for improvements!
After your comments, we added couching to our restaurant's chair for more comfort, added new pillows in the rooms, completed the memory foam mattresses pad in all our beds, new table clothes, new sheets, new beach towels, painted the balconies, new pump for the swimming pool. We also bought new ceiling fans for the restaurant, reupholstered all the chairs in every room and we are now going to work in repairing the balcony's railing in the room you stayed. We are going to post new photos of our work for you and all our future guests to see!
Our hotel is very quite. This is not possible to change. Yet, what we can do is to give more detailed information of what to expect when visiting us. Our 6-room boutique Hotel is a very private place and almost isolated from the city. Here, guests can relax, read, swim, and sometimes only listen at the birds and the ocean. Even when the 6 rooms are occupied the hotel is very tranquil most of the time.
People from the Bay and Tulum area come to have dinner with us yet, sometimes our guests do not even notice the crowd in the restaurant because the rooms are situated in a way that privacy and quietness is the most you will get.
… If there is a day where you would like to visit the paradise and have a complete relaxation we will be here for you and will try to not disappoint you again. Sorry!
Our goal is to keep all of our guests always wanting to visit us . We will work our best to achieve this goal!!

“LOVELY EXPERIENCE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2011

This is a great find. Small hotel in a beautiful setting. You can walk 100 yards to the right and snorkel in the beautiful ocean. You can walk across the road and swim/snorkel/dive in the very beautiful lagoon/cenote. The owner is a yogi so he turned us on to a yoga studio in the area. The food at the hotel restaurant is good and the setting is very pleasant (outdoor). The internet went down while we were there but other than that everything was perfect. We will stay here again.

“A slice of paradise away from the timeshare jungle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

We only had two nights there as a side trip from a timeshare in Cancun and I am so glad we did. We had a beautiful clean 2 bedroom 2nd floor ocean view room that had a large balcony with hammock and lounge chairs. Each of the two rooms had it's own bathroom so would suit a family like us with children (ours are 9 & 11) or a couple of couples which would make it economical. A small walk down the beach you can snorkle in a really cool ocean cenote or just a minute walk up the road you can do the same in a mango lagoon. Either side is amazing. We were lucky as the owner Mike was there and he guided us each time through these adventures pointing things out and helping us with any needed gear.
The food was great and lots of guests from surrounding hotels came to eat the pizza, or for a drink at the bar or to take advantage of the Internet. It was obvious that many people go there more than once and I can certainly understand why.
