“A Beautiful and Serene Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Le Chateau de Reignac is a fabulous hotel. I have never been to a place that is so calming, so quiet and so relaxing. A visually beautiful hotel in an old world sense, with modern amenities, located in a small town in the French countryside. It is the perfect place to take yourself or better yet to be taken to when you need to unwind. A wonderful experience. I will continue to return.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

We stayed for two nights at Le Chateau de Reignac on the last two days of our visit to the Loire Valley. I have never written a negative review on tripadvisor and if a hotel has mainly good reviews I take the odd poor review with a pinch of salt, which I did with this place when I read the reviews on Tripadvisor. The Chateau does not live up to it's website, it is grubby and in need of some tlc. The approach to hotel is uncared for, a discarded hosepipe, an air conditioning hose hanging out of one the bedroom windows, we were filled with dismay before we even stepped in. Our room was the La Fafayette, a very large ground floor room, with a separate bathroom and separate toilet. Sadly it didnt smell very nice, the private terrace was very neglected, a discarded empty coke bottle and a dead bird (the dead bird was not removed during our stay). In the wardrobe was an empty crisp packet, cobwebs behind the bath. A thick plastic, waterproof matress cover on the bed! We normally stay in older privately owned properties and dislike modern shiny places, I am quite happy to forgive the odd cobweb but this place really needed some care and attention. We spent the first couple of hours debating about leaving but as we had booked for two nights, knew that we would lose a lot of money so we decided to just get on with it and try to enjoy our stay. We booked dinner at the Chateau for the two evenings, which we were pleased about as the hotel is not really within walking distance of many places. We were very happy with our meals on both evenings the food was very good, the tables are beautifully laid and the service was excellent. We were asked each day if there was anything we disliked and we were not disappointed with any of the courses. The wine which is included in the cost of the meal was also excellent. Again breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurts, cheese, ham, bread, croissants jams tea, coffee and the service at both dinner and breakfast was very good. Its a shame we didn't love this place, I had thought we would from looking at the website, however, we did make the best of our stay and really enjoyed dinner here.

“The most incredible wedding venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

My first review on Trip Advisor but this place is worth it! My wife and I held our wedding ceremony at the Chateau in September 2011, and, looking back, there isn't a single thing I would change about the day (and that includes the photographer not turning up!) everything about it exceeded my expectations.

First of all the Chateau itself is stunning, each room has been restored based around a different historic individual - this means that each room is different but all are of the same high standard. The bathrooms are immaculate, and fitted out to a modern standard but in a fashion that isn't out of place in such a historic setting. The beds are large and comfy, guanteeing a peaceful night, and the views from every room was delightful. Each member of the wedding party that stayed in the Chateau agreed that it was one of the best hotels they had ever stayed in, and that's coming from 25 travel-hardened souls!

The food prepared for our ceremony was delicous, true French cuisine from a very wide selection, and served with local wines that went down far too easily! Breakfast and lunch were simpler affairs but all that was required. On a previous visit to the Chateau we ate in a fantastic local restaurant recommended by Francoise and Erick - there are many lovely villages in the vicinity that are worth seeking out.

As for the above mentioned Francoise and Erick, they could not have been more helpful, so ofter going out of their way to help us and ensure the day was unforgetable. Nothing was too much trouble for them, from sourcing local flowers to finding reserve pianists at the last minute to dealing with the various food allegies and requests demanded by our guests! Without them our weekend would have been so much more stressful and nowhere near as perfect.

All I can say is that if you are looking for that perfect wedding venue, a location for a memorable gathering or just a quick trip to the Loire then the Chateau de Reignac is the answer!

“Perfect in every way”

Wonderful atmosphere, very relaxing, made to feel very welcome from start to finish.

Room Tip: We had the last room available on the night we stayed, we had absolutely no complaints.

“An amazing wedding venue, but beware French lack of flexibility”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

Our daughter loved her recent wedding at the Chateau. Pre-wedding barbeque was fun. The service in the chapel was beautiful, and Priest recommended by Chateau delightful.
We planned canapes and fairy lights outside after BUT cancelled because it might rain, so all crowded in upstairs. Wedding dinner was excellent, but arrangements for children were a disaster because of "No food in room" policy, so they hung round and baby sitter unable to withdraw to feed and amuse them.
After dinner NO FACILITIES for older guests to escape noise of disco - furniture and carpets removed from main salon, (which was then locked) and library only accommodates 6 people. No bar facilities were available and totally inadequate staffing meant older guests retired at 11.30 pm. Very disappointing end to lovely day.
Finally no mini bars and refusal to allow drinks in rooms or balconies meant very costly and inadequate facility for a casual bar drink at any time (served in main salon only)

Room Tip: All rooms are absolutely beautiful, but need tea making and mini-bar facilities.
