“pretty place, pricey restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2011

When we arrived our room was at first not ready. After some discussion they showed us another room we did not like and then our first room was ready all of a sudden. It was a nice room with a big fireplace. This was absolutely necesary as the hotel walls are 2 metres thick it is quite cold inside. A lady of the hotel came to light the fire and there were 2 additional electrical heaters as well. The room had nice big chairs which could be put in front of the fireplace. We had acces to the internet through wifi, even though we were as far as you can be from reception so that was very good.
The restaurant has 3 different rooms. Only one room has a fire, which we did not see untill we had had a very cold lunch. For dinner we went in to the room with the fire and that was lovely. For Ecuadorian standards the restaurant was quite pricey (about $60 for 3 people with just a main course and a beer)
It is far away from everything so you will need to have all your meals at the hotel or take a trip by car somewhere else.
Breakfast was excellent, eggs, fresh juice, fresh fruit salad, pancake, coffee and tea.

“Timeless and Gracious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

The sheer elegance of La Cinega as well as the sense of history made this hotel memorable. Learning about its history from the brochure and the staff gave us a much better understanding of Ecuador's past.Since our trip was more focussed on adventure and outside activities (than culture or history), it was particularly nice to stay in such a historic place. Other writer have commented that the rooms were cold. We had a space heater and it kept our very large room quite cozy.
As othes have mentioned, the grounds are fabulous and the occasional view of Cotapaxi.
Of all the places that we stayed, they served the best breakfast.

“Wonderful Setting - Tree lined drive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

The most wonderful driveway and entrance to this old Hacienda, the room was very clean but a little plain.
We stayed 2 nights here and as we were on a photographic trip we had to leave rather early in the morning and the hotel were sorted us out with a packed breakfast .. great location for exploring the Cotopaxi National park and the high roads up to Quilotoa Crater lake. Our guide from Surtrek could stay with us at this Hacienda which was great.
Food was good and staff very friendly.

“Cold!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

The building itself is superb but the standard rooms were cold and sparse. I mentioned to the receptionist that we were cold and her retort was that there was a heater in our room to which I then replied that there weren't any chairs to sit on! The room was probably one of the worst we have stayed in. I would advise anyone wishing to stay here not to book a standard room. There was only one other couple in residence so why not give us the better rooms as had been our experience elsewhere in Ecuador?

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2010

We stayed here during our trip through Ecuador. The building and surroundings are very nice looking. Rooms are large and luxury. It can be pretty cold here (though it wasn't for us) but there is electric heating available.
Food was good, but nothing fancy.
