“Major Improvements Here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We spent 3 weeks in a 2 bedroom at CPV. Under new management, a number of improvements were apparent. Any request (to housekeeping, maintenance, etc) was met promptly, and the new AC in our unit was very quiet. The general appearance of the resort, including the pools, was much more appealing. New grills have been installed (we do eat dinner in sometimes) and much to our liking the maids left the towels we hung and took those on the floor.

We always rent a car when we visit, this time through the website, at a very good price. We greatly enjoy Arashi Beach, a short drive away. Arashi has lots of shade and is never crowded, except perhaps on a Sunday, unlike the high rise hotels where we see people staking out their Palapa at 6:30 AM! The resort has added both tables and chairs and more chaises, too, so it is always easy to find a place around the pool. I enjoy the AM pool exercise and my husband enjoys watching "Cuba," one of the instructors.

It is very clear that the new Board of Directors is committed to providing the best experience for both owners and renters. When they are at the resort, they are very accessible and open to suggestion. We never knew anyone on the former Board, and we felt that CPV was THEIR resort. In contrast, it now feels (as it should) that CPV is OUR resort.

We loved the extended Happy Hours at the on site restaurant. Where else on the Island can you get 2 Brown Ladys for $8? One of our favorite off site restaurants is BINGO, just a short walk down the street. They have a great variety of food and the restaurant is a great value and has very good service.

I can hardly wait for next year!

Room Tip: All the rooms are identical, all have balconies, half are pool view, if you are renting, inquire.

“Love going back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We bought our timeshare in the late 90's. We've gone back every year except a few when we traveled to Europe then we bank our week and enjoy two weeks the next year. Yes, it is further to the beach but we always rent a car so that we can also drive to our favorite restaurants. Been to other timeshares in Aruba and I find that they are super crowded, loud, many with bars in the pool which scared me since most of the younger people are drunk and not getting up to use the restrooms (kids too) and also you find some fruit floating in the pools from their cocktails. Pool bar, never go in it. At the CPV are rooms are always spotless, maids very giving and go out of their way to serve, love the cafe next to the pool, food always good and of great value. Valentino's was a restaurant that had closed a few years ago which we visited once, highly priced and not as good as the Italian Restaurant down the street, Solemar, which is my favorite. We actually walk to the restaurant, maybe 20 minutes, good excercise. This trip my sister and daughter purchased a timeshare. The pool staff is wonderful, never have to wait for a towel, servers at the cafe adorable and work very hard, front desk gals, very helpful. Yes, sometimes we get a room without a great view but still enjoy sitting outside having a glass of wine before dinner. If you get a pool size apartment you sometimes have to deal with children in the pool area, not as quiet. Love our timeshare, love Aruba with their wonderful restaurants in and around town. Even though we can exchange for another location, we never do:)

Room Tip: We don't care for the rooms next to the family pool because of little more noise. Have a new co...

“this place is terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

my family and i were staying here for 10 nights and let me say that it totally ruined my trip to aruba. we were lucky enough that some family were staying down by the beach and we could escape to their resort during the day cause if i had to spend the majority of my time a the cpvr i surely would have payed the extra cost to switch my ticket and fly home. let me first start by saying that the rooms are very out dated. they look like a villan from miami vice lives in them. our 2 bedroom condo was filthy. the groat had never been cleaned there was glass and piles of dust in the corners of the doorjam. while brushing my teeth i found out that the sink was clogged as well. the place smelled like mildew and there was a note saying that you should only set the a/c as low as 70 to try to curb the mold and mildew. the coffee maker leaked all over the counter when it was used. one morning after a good rain my son was running and slipped and fell in the bedroom. when i went to help him up i noticed that water had risen up through the tiles. i investigated further and found it also coming out of the electrical outlet. when we called for a change in rooms they said they couldnt accomidate us because they were full. i know they were not full. the room across the hall from sounded like madi gras on most nights and it was always a different group of people. one night after listening to what sounded like a daycare with no adult present from the hours of 9pm to 11pm i finally had enough i walked acroos the hall banged on the door only to have the children and one adult laugh and scurry around instead of coming to the door. my wife then called the desk and complained. when the security officer came up he pointed to our room when asked who had complained. the front desk people were little to no help and had an attitiude when they had to hear any complaint. the bar is shabby at best and the bartending is outclassed by your local dive any day of the week. one night on our way back in from some time out my wife and i stopped to have a drink. we waited at the bar for ten minutes while we were skipped over by the bartender for anyone on the right side of the bar. i guess it was too much for him to walk the length of the bar or take his head out of his sketch pad to take our drink order. they should change the from the carribean palm village resort to your last resort because if you have to stay here you must not have any other options.

Room Tip: choose another place to stay

“Nice place with friendly staff but chilly rooms”

Our family of 5 enjoyed staying here although it is not close to all the restaurants, beaches, etc. We ended up renting a car 3 different times once we got to the CPV as we got tired of taking the shuttle or walking to the beach. As another reviewer mentioned, the rooms are chilly. The sign above the thermostat says not to turn the temperature higher or there will be problems with mold (from the heat I guess). Very comfortable place with a delicious restaurant! Great hot tubs too!

Room Tip: I loved being on the main floor so we didn't have to carry all our groceries up several flights...

“Clean but Chilly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed here one night while waiting for our week to start at a timeshare on Palm Beach, so we weren't here for even 24 hours.

The one bedroom apartment was very clean and the grounds were also nice. The exterior of the building is in need up paint to make it look neat. The hallways could use some upgrading as well as the rooms.

When checking in, there were several mistakes. First, they had us booked for two rooms. Luckily, we had printed our reservation. Then they took our credit card. We figured it was for file. Then she came with a receipt for us to sign. Well, we had prepaid. So then she had to refund. YIKES! Also, there were no pool towels as 4:00 pm must be too late to swim. hmmm? The girls at the desk were nice but had to keep running to the manager to get advice.

The room itself was very clean. However, I wouldn't stay there again as the room was COLD! There were notes on the thermostat advising not to change the temperature or turn off the AC. If you wanted an adjustment, you had to call the desk. Someone else told us that his wife wears a hoodie sweatshirt with the hood up while she is in the room. The floor was so cold that my feet were like ice after being on it for only a short time.

We did not have hot water in the master bathroom for showers, but the other bathroom had nice hot water!

Good wifi near the pools. We had good signal from the balcony of our room.

We would not visit this motel again due to the cold room. Also, we like to be on the beach when we are visiting a tropical location. It is just too far for a long stay. It was okay for one night and would do it again for one night if we couldn't find another place.
