The hotel is spotless the staff are cleaning all the time.
The rooms are great, beds comfortable and the view, (which the hotel really can’t take credit for!) is breathtaking. The food is excellent and plentiful, and the head chef didn’t bat an eyelid when I explained that I am gluten dairy intolerant) !) he made it his buisness to made sure I knew what was in each dish and specially made something for me which I am truly grateful. The head waiter Yosef was really amazing too along with nearly all the dining room staff.
The food though plentiful and good is served in a large self service restaurant, the tables were formica topped and with paper mats, I had the feeling of being in an upgraded staff canteen with very few frills, the hotel has a bistro which although advertised was not open. I realize that Israeli culture prefers the informal help yourself approach, if I am at a hotel that is supposedly four star, I would prefer table cloths, and a bit of service rather than having to wrestle my way to the food…. Then I am British
My friend and I were really impressed by the professional spa team, they told me what treatments I could and couldn’t have, the spa therapists were all excellent, and the reception staff in the spa was really friendly and helpful. the spa is second to none.Well if you do nothing else try the hot dead sea mud and seaweed wrap its half an hour of pure heaven !!!
The elevators are swift and plentiful even for check out and rush hour.
There is free internet, however you are given a 24hour code which you have to type in every time you go on line, or after an hour. The internet is fast and good
There are however a major problem within their organization of communication, which turned what should have been an exciting break into a slightly dull experience .The hotel staff mainly speak Hebrew, Russian, English is spoken but not at a professional level which is needed to deal with problems, but giving the hotel management the benefit of the doubt we did go a week which was mainly full of Israeli pensioners so maybe they rotated the staff accordingly. My friend speaks perfect Hebrew being Israeli and she felt the communication was bad.
One has to be careful of the shower, if you have mobility problems be sure to ask for a disabled access room the corridors are long and the baths high and wide, I remembered too late that my mother had problems with this on a previous visit.
There is a wide surround to the bath (I am not short, 174cm ) however after having a shower I realized there is no rail to hold on to I that slipped fell and banged my head badly. The receptionist asked if I wanted to see a doctor’. No I didn’t want to see a doctor , I just funnily enough want to stay in a hotel where the guests are not in danger of cracking their head open when getting in and out the shower. My friend who is much shorter than I resorted to showering in the spa as she also fell getting out the shower. There was another couple there the husband also fell getting out the shower and hurt him self badly.
The hotel has facility’s for disabled so these rooms have safer showers.
In the evening there was entertainment, one night we could play bingo ( in Hebrew) or learn the Tango
Most of the guests were either in family’s or groups .
Would I return? for the location maybe as the hotel is right on the beach, but so are others, for the spa treatment yes but I could stay else weher and book in and pay for each treatment.
The hotel was OK, but a bit of an overall disapointment. I feel they try and individual staff try but it just isn't the excellence that one expects with the name of Crowne Plazza.
