“Newer facilities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Newer facilities than Leonardo in Jerusalem. Opposite the Dead Sea. We watched the beautiful sun rise. Poor service: I have an hour of complimentary internet access because of my Leonardo Advantage Club membership, but I had difficulty in connecting to the internet. After checking with the front desk, I was told to click on the “purchase” button. Got connected, but when I checked out, they said that I have to pay $5.00. The charge was removed after explaining to them that the internet access was complimentary.

“Not for Couples, maybe for families”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

I can see why families and large groups like this hotel. The price was reasonable. Our room had space for a sofa bed. The restaurant had options for the whole family. The hotel has a great pool out back. But traveling as a couple, this hotel wasn't a good fit.

We were happy with our room. It wasn't too small and was reasonably clean (minus some snack food under the couch left by a previous guest). The hotel was just a short walk to the Dead Sea and a shuttle was provided.

Our issue was meal time. The cafeteria style eating arrangements were not conducive to a relaxing dinner, and no other options were available. We had to hunt down the glass of wine we theoretically had paid for in our all-inclusive package. At breakfast we found ourselves competing with kids grabbing food in their hands from the line. We stood in line for coffee. And the food was mediocre. We left early because we couldn't bear to eat the last meal we paid for in that space.

Additionally, the staff was hit or miss. Some were friendly (the front desk and greeters) while others seemed inconvenienced when asked to do their job (the bar staff).

Overall, this hotel was so-so and not great value for money.

“Wonderfull hotel, parking problems”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

The Leonardo Dead Sea is part of a chain of four Leonrdo hotels in the dead sea. It is situated on the slope of the hill and not on the beach, but it is closed to Leonardo Plaza, situated right on the beach, and you can walk, drive or thake a shuttle to this facility - free for the Leonardo guests. Room are spacious, very comfortable, facing the Dead Sea. A wonderful experience. Parking problems to people coming with cars!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in levels higher than the Lobby

“There's got to be something better!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

This hotel is flooded with tour busses. Makes you wonder how good these tour companies are if they willingly board their guests at this place. The best thing I can say about this hotel is that the rooms are spacious. The hotel is run down and in urgent need of maintenance. There was a pile of broken wall board in the hallway for the two days we were there and no one cleaned it up. The food was marginal, at best, and at breakfast you had to wait in line for coffee. The staff is surly and would rather talk to each other than serve you. We waited in line for at least 10 minutes to get a glass of wine we could take out on the deck to watch the sunset. The sun was set by the time we got anyone to pour it. It would have been nice to have been served on the deck but apparently that's not how they do it. No one answers the phone at the desk. The spa looks more like a place for a colonic than a massage. The outdoor pool is lovely but freezing. It might be better in the summer. All in all, this hotel did not add to our Dead Sea experience.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Dead Sea rather than on the sides have the better views.
