“Don't get fooled by bad reviews. Its a great resort to spend some special moments!!”
I can't understand why people push their ignorance as fault for others (details later).
We went to Cerf Island Resort on our honeymoon and believe me writing this review brings back the great memories. The kind of reviews I read (read bad ones) I was a bit reluctant to make a booking here, but took a chance. I am glad I did. This place is simply amazing, we were made to feel at home with personal touch right at the moment we arrived till the late night departure at 10:30PM.
Let me start with every single thing and then you can get a better idea:
Resort :
The resort is really great! Its a mini paradise I would say. Each and every Villa has its own privacy. The path to go to your Villa is so nice, it feels like you are in a Jungle paradise. One of the staff members Deepak took us to the Helipad (top of the island), and it was amazing to get a panoramic view of nearby islands, and not to forget the beautiful sunset. I can't find any thing negative about it.
Villa :
Luckily we were able to book the Hideaway Villa "Karkasay" which has a breath taking sea view from the big balcony. The room was big with an open bathroom with shower. As we were on our honeymoon our bed and everything else was decorated the first day, which was so nice. We are non-alcoholic so the staff took care of that and got as a chilled non-alcoholic welcome drink as complimentary. Every day we had the bed made up both in the morning (while we were gone for breakfast) and in the evening (when gone for dinner). So no complains here.
Food:
Let me tell you both me and my wife are pure vegetarians, not eating egg either. We were really surprised the way our good preference was taken care of. We were surprised the variety of vegetarian dishes we were served. Every morning at breakfast the Chef would come and take our inputs , which was really nice.
One thing which I agree with others is the unfriendliness of (read only 1-2) staff members, who really served you as-if they are taking pity on you. But that does not matter a lot if you don't care :-)
On the other hand you can't expect a fast food experience here, it takes time (not so much though) in dishes being served. But thats the whole point you came to relax and not to catch another train :-)
One thing which many have expressed, the very high prices. I can't agree more. But take my advice, try to include a Full Board while booking, it really helps ! A big CAUTION though, in a full board, drinks are not included. So even if you take water, that will cost SCR 50, which is unreasonable. Since this is one gray area, the management should think on it.
STAFF:
The staff was first rate. They gave such a personal feel to us that we really enjoyed our stay. Both Michael (sorry if I have written her name incorrect) and her husband made us feel welcome. Either one of them would come during breakfast to take our feedback and any thing we needed which was very nice. They have few Indian staff who were really friendly with us. Specially there is a guy named Deepak who showed us his towel skills was a nice experience. As mentioned earlier, chef was very friendly and took our inputs for the dishes he made. All in all no complains whatsoever.
Overall:
This resort is highly recommended. Please don't go by the negative reviews, give a chance (specially try for Full Board), you will never regret. This is really a special and romantic place to be !!
