“Quiet, clean, friendly staff - would love to go back :)”

Trip Advisor's reviews helped us a lot when choosing hotel in Mauritius - and we couldn't be more satisified with our staying there at Coin de Mire. We stayed there for 12 nights on half-board basis. Deluxe room is a nice place to be with all the comfort you need, food is OK, cooks and waiters friendly. Breakfasts tend to repeat themselves - but are good, dinners have a different theme every night - from chinese, creole, fisherman's, italian... the info that you need to pay extra if you eat a lot is not true - the only dinner which costs extra is the lobster menu, this is clearly marked.

The location of the hotel very good, if you don't want to pay the quadruple price for drinks (you order and sign the bill to the room number and pay when checking out) there is supermarket "Winners" 15 min walk to the left in Pereybere (hotel taxi costs 150 Rupees one way, approx 4€). The other megasupermarket which is not walking distance away is SuperU. Drinks in the mini bar are not that expensive (70 Rupees - 2€ for 1l mineral water, 90 Rupees - 3€ for beer), if you order the drinks by the dinner they are a bit expensive, the most expensive are they in the bar by the pool.

Boat guys will take you free of charge for a swim in a turquoise water or on a quick tour with a glass bottom boat. We higly reccomend lagoon trip with a catamaran to see the Ile aux Cerfs - this really is something you need to see and enjoy! :)

The island is surprisingly full of hound dogs and homeless cats - all these animals are very thankfull if you feed them. Please do.

We'd like to point out receptionist Ashley - he was extremely nice and helpfull :)

Room Tip: Superior rooms are not so superior as we are used here in Europe, do ask for a Deluxe upgrade in the...

“Coin de Mire. Excellent !”

1 week stay in early December 2011.
We took our 1 year old boy and all really enjoyed the stay. The hotel is superb, very clean, very good quality and in a great location.
The beach opposite is lovely but the entry to the sea is a little rocky under foot. However, a short walk up the beach and you have plenty more including a jetty.
Food was nice but the buffet every night could get a little tiring although due to the small size of the hotel, there are rarely any queues.
Rooms are large and very clean and well kept. All furniture feels of good quality.
Pool is lovely and the sunbeds around it are all wooden with no fight for them. Again, really good quality feel.
I cannot really fault the Coin De Mire in any way at all. We loved it. Highly recommended.
One tip. Rent a car. They are cheap and the Island is great to explore.

Room Tip: Ask for a room either in the Deluxe section or a good distance from the bar as on some nights it can...

“Lovely hotel”

We went to Mauritius in September and spend a week in Coin de Mire Hotel. We were more than happy about the place - the rooms are very spacious, and cleaned properly every day. Food was delicious, and the menu changed every day. The road next to hotel wasn't a problem to us, if you want to go to the beach the security guard will help you cross the road, but it's not busy anyway.September is the end of the winter in Mauritius so not the warmest of the months, so the water in the pool was a bit cold, but on the other hand the pool was empty most of the time as most people either explore the island during the day or do some kind of watersports. There was always enough sunbeds at the pool so you don't have to wake up early to mak sure you get one.
The restaurant is lovely and romantic, but as there's no indoor seats it's a bit cold at times. As mentioned the food was lovely. We were on AI and that included most of the coctails made from local brands, and we finded the choice good enough. What we found surprising some of the coctails had to much alcohol in them ;-) The only complain would have to be the waiting staff - very slow and sometimes lazy, the place is never really busy but we still had to wait 20min for drinks.
We only had 7 days in Mauritius but managed to visit quite a few places - just keep in mind driving there is SOME experience ;-) We went to Casella Bird Park for walk with the lions, but as we got late we missed it. Instead they offered us interactions with all wild cats, so we've spend about the hour with lions, tigers, etc - great day with amazing, friendly and funny staff.
In genaral the island is lovely, with friendly people and at no point we felt unsafe. It's a paradise ;-)
As for the hotel, if you consider it's only 3 star it's one of the best places we have evere stayed at.

Room Tip: As far frome the road as possible

Spent just under two weeks at the hotel on an all inclusive basis on our honeymoon

We absolutely loved our stay at the hotel. It was not very busy about 150 or so guests however many were not about during the day. The staff were exceedingly helpful and were happy to help where they could. I did find reception a bit less helpful on a couple of occasions but not to any detriment.

The food produced was always lovely. Buffet breakfast and dinner with a mixture of changes and regular items, with a different theme each night of the week. Lunch was al la carte and had a wide selection of starters, pizzas and grills. The restaurant is outdoors and therefore is open to the wildlife (well birds) some of whom are quite brave and will quickly jump on vacated or neighbouring tables.

The evening entertainment was of a good quality however we felt it finished too early and left us wanting a bit more. There isn't much to do in the evening apart from the entertainment however this may have been due to the time of year.

We used the dive company in the hotel and they were very good. They made sure that we had an English speaking instructor which was helpful, just ask for one when you book.

Our room was on the ground floor so missed out on the sea view however the garden was well kept and white pleasant to look out on. The room itself was good and cleaned everyday. As all inclusive we had access to the mini bar however were disappointed that not everything included and the items you had to pay for very expensive compared to the Super market in Grande Baie. This is also the same for drinks if you were not on all inclusive.

There is a public beach opposite the hotel (all beaches are public from what we understood) that has some hotel staff on it that supply canoes, pedalows, and snorkelling gear. the reef is lovely and you don't have to go very far out to find coral and fish a few meters bells you.

“very relaxing holiday”

My husband and i stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in september on a half board basis, well worth it.If you are like us and like to go to explore different places i would recommend that half board is for you as you would not get the benefit from being A/L,you would end up paying out more money.
Drinks are expensive in the hotel but when we went to grand baie we went to the supermarket and bought beer and wine very cheaply and the hotel did not mind us doing this.
Before we travelled i was concerned about what currency to take, travel agent said take Ruppee and also Euro and Dollars, please dont take Euro or Dollar as the rate is bad, take Sterling and change to Ruppee it is a better rate.Hope this helps.
