We had a fantastic week in the Pinguinvillas. Blue Bay beach is the best among the baches of Mauritus, the small village is also really nice, tropical and really humid. We stayed in a 3 rooms apartment with big balcony, and view to the beutifull garden. The villa is fresh, cozy and tidy. The garden full of exotic plants, palmtrees which means that you can feel yourself in the paradise. The stunning Blue Bay beach only 5 minutes from the Pinguinvillas wich is the best snorkelling place in Mauritius. Mr Sarif was very helpfull and kind with us, the kids enjoed when he pick us up in his big jeep inorder to do some shopping :)
By bus or cheap taxi you can reach the big suprmarket (London shopping center) where you can find everything that you need for your vacation. We really recomend this accomadation to anyone who are intressted in travelling to some very exotic place and at the same time feel secure in the area and among the peolpe here. However, as the place is very attractive, I would recomend you to make your reservaion well in advance before your arrival, as it has a tendency to be full prety fast.

As a number of times before, I started my search for accomodation on Tripadvisor and that's how I learnt about Pingouinvillas. It is not a coincidence that it is rated as the number one specialty lodging on the island - the apartments are fantastic value. The apartment block is only about a 3 minute walk from the Blue Bay lagoon and about a 20-25 minute walk (or a 2-3 minute cab ride) from the most beautiful beach on the whole island, Pointe d'Esny. I hired a car from Mr Ramjan for 2 days (which is the easiest car rental ever - you tell him you need a car and it is there next morning without any paperwork or deposit) and drove around the whole island. After seeing east, north, south and west, I concluded that I chose the right beach! The shops, Internet, restaurants, etc. are in Mahebourg with frequent bus connections (only about 10 minutes), but the cabs often cruise that costal road and charge the same fee as the bus - about half a euro. The apartments are very clean, relaxed, quiet and you are waken up by lovely birds (including the red Madagaskar fody, which is so friendly that I often shared with one my morning bagett, it simply picked it from my table on the terrace!). Mr. Ramjan can help you with shopping, car rental, boat trips, anything. I had a wonderful stay and as a solo female traveller, I felt very safe in that area.

We stayed there 13 days, met nice helpful people, good food, service. The beach, weather is excellent and peaceful. Ideal for families with small children. We recommend for everibody.

Prior to visit to Mauritius, we looked for the hotel and by accident found Pingouinvillas advertisment. Now, after visit to Maitiyius, we think that it is probably of the best places to stay for the couple or family.
1. Good location of the hotel. You may reach different beaches (located either in lagoon, or to the way to Mahebourg) each of them havng its own evironment. Hotel is close to the airport and to the main auto road which crosses almost all island. One may find convinient to go to Mahebourg, Grand Port, or Ylang-Ylang valley and mountains. Last but not least is that almost all sightseeings are located in the soutrhern part of the island.
2. Good room. We had a studio which gives a wonderful overview almost 360 deg. around incl. mountains and sea. Room has an equipped kitchen and bath also. Large bed and big windows. Cleaning two-three times a week. Separately You may negotiate to have a breakfast and dinner for good price also.
3. Good environment. Local people are friendly. This is valuable to travel by foot and by bus in the island. Separately You may rent a car from the Hotel Owner. Take a car for 3-4 days, and if You are very interested, You may visit almost all sights of the island. If You like markets, go to Mahebourg Monday marker, which we found even better if compared with Port Lois market. If You like hikes, go to the Black River Park or climb mountains which are everywhere.
4. Sun. We had two weeks stay, and there was no rain at all during that days. Hotel is situated in such a place, that any of larger rains rain out in mountains. Enjy Sun responsibly, though.
5. Meals. Try local fish meals in small restaurants. Fruits are in a variety and of big choice.
