“"Ultimate Bliss"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The Maritim Hotel is nothing short of spectacular. It is beautiful and elegant, located on the lovely coastline of Turtle Bay, west of the island.
The staff are friendly and are there to ensure that every need is attended too. They are always cheerful and never without a smile. "Nervada" from guest relations has been absolutely awesome, she will ensure that your stay at the hotel is like a slice of heaven.
If you visit the La Maree Beach bar, be sure to try the pizza’s, they are just dreamy. Buffet breakfast and dinner was excellent and the variety is endless. Please be sure to bring stretchable pants as you are sure to gain a few pounds. As for vegetarians, not to worry as special orders can be made upon your request. There are endless activities everyday, the intention is that you will have no reason to the leave the hotel.
The spa, "blissful" - enough said. If you have a few more pennies in your bank, worth while to book the Prestige room, the extra space is much needed, especially in the bathroom.
Overall the hotel is lovely and definitely provides you value for money.
The hotel is definitely worth a second trip!!!

Room Tip: P.s: Book Prestige room upwards! Jacuzzi & Spa treatment is a must..

“Beautiful hotel with warm staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed at the Maritim during our honeymoon (via MakemyTrip) and its a wonderful hotel with genuinely warm staff. The room was nice, the property is beautiful with a long drive, ample greenery, good water sports and other activities. The private beach is small but cosy and overlooks a lagoon with the sea a 100m away. The spa is excellent. We are vegetarians and the hotel has excellent options at the Belle Vue restaurant and on one night when the cuisine was Chinese, the staff specially prepared vegetarian food for us. The service is excellent and the staff is very warm. A special thanks to Ms Rekha at the Belle Vue restaurant who made us feel welcome. I would definitely come back to the hotel and just stay there and enjoy the view and the activities.

A few tips for honeymooners/travellers:
1) Skip the North tour, its just shopping. There isnt much sightseeing to do in Mauritius except may be the 7 color soil. The water sports at Ile Aux Cerfs are excellent.
2) The default honeymoon package is NOT 'All Inclusive' at the hotel. If you plan to stay at the hotel most of the time (highly recommended) or plan to use the bar a lot, make sure to upgrade to the 'All Inclusive' at check-in.
3) If not on 'All Inclusive' ask your driver to stop at the Bagatelle Mall enroute from the airport and buy a pack of 6 1.5 L water cans for MUR 95. At the hotel a bottle of 1 L water is 100 MUR.
4) Unlike the Le Meridien, the Maritim provides a bottle of water complimentary everyday which helps a lot.
5) Buy the local simcard at Emtel at the Bagatelle Mall, its much cheaper and faster than anywhere else.

Overall a great experience and would love to come back.

“A little slice of heaven”

Mauritius is a beautiful island and Hotel Maritim is the perfect hotel from which to enjoy it. We had wonderful service from all the charming employees, excellent food, a lovely room with a superb view, and beautiful and extensive gardens and grounds. The hotel and grounds were kept to a high standard of cleanliness and attractiveness. We appreciated their policy of not tipping until the end when it is done anonymously into a sealed envelope, after which it is shared amongst all the staff. We had lovely weather about 30 degrees day and night and in the ocean. The air conditioning was very effective and comfortable and quiet. If you enjoy nature you will love the wild life, the trees, birds, flowers, fruit bats and exotic fish. The full day trip to the south west of the island was well worth doing. Pay for trips using a debit card and then you won't incur any extra costs. Rupees are the best way of purchasing goods whilst you are there, we took dollars but we didn't get a good rate. Everything at the airport is charged in Euros. We had a wonderful time and fully recommend both the island and the hotel.

Room Tip: We were in 471 on the top floor overlooking the palm trees, garden, beach and Indian Ocean. All the...

“Would like to return for longer”

Spent two nights in the Maritim before heading to Port Louis for business meetings, loved the place! The grounds were huge and enjoyable to walk round to the ruins, waterfall, to see the giant turtles etc. It was a luxurious experience and I would like to return for longer than 2 nights.

“Expected a lot more”

Try not to get a room on the northern side of this resort as the next door resort has a nightclub which will keep you awake past midnight. It took a few days to change our room to a more quiet side of the resort.

The all inclusive package is highly recommended as the restaurant and bar menu items can be very expensive. We do not enjoy buffet style dining that much and fortunately we had the alternative option of going to the Beach restaurant f(Le Maree) for lunch and dinner. The lunch menu has items for the all inclusive package and there are usually a set menu for dinner. During dinner they have live entertainment which we enjoyed very much.

The 9 hole golf course is worth visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Snorkelling just off the beach was very good and the coral covers a large area. Trips to the reef is free of charge and the boat departs twice a day from the watersport area.

Some of the staff are not very friendly/helpful - most guests stay on an all inclusive package basis, so waiters don't get a lot of tips. We had to put down our towels before breakfast to secure our favourite lounger spot on the beach otherwise your options can be limited.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the southern side as the rooms on the northern side are exposed to loud music f...
