Ok i have been on vacation before and used this site to get a view of what it was like but chose not to write a review but the comments that some 'tourists' have written about Akassia rather amuse me so here goes !!
1) - Visas - You HAVE to pay to get in to Hurghada, it is cheaper if you pay Egyption Pound (dependant on your exchange rate)
2) - Transfers - You have about a two and a half hour transfer from Hurghada so do the maths before you go, why write a review on how you had to sit on a coach for a long time ? - if you don't want a long transfer - simple - don't book it or see if you can fly in to the local airport !!
3) - Location - IT IS in the middle of no-where, all the reviews tell you it is IT IS in the middle of nowhere - so why book a holiday and then moan about it - you guys make me laugh !! On a seperate note you can book to go on excursions and if you wish to go into the local town it is cheaper to use the hotel's 'limousine service' than a taxi but as with everything it does cost
4) - Food - The dining areas are manned with staff that are wonderful and food that is well presented - Don't go there expecting to have a full english or a Sunday lunch, if you want that i suggest you book Benidorm or Blackpool !! They have themed nights, i went on this vacation with my wife and two children, one sixteen the other eight, and we had no problems with food and would solely depend on whether your children are prepared to try foods from other countries, In between main meals there were 'bars' that served toasties in the morning and chips and burger/hot dog in the afternoon. There was free ice cream between 15:00 and 18:00.
5) - Beach - Not too sure of Electric Fish ? I didn't see any but there is a small area that is roped off that you can go snorkelling around. When we were there we used this area as the Red Flags were up so you couldn't snorkel off the jetty, however the hotel offers a courtesy bus that runs twice a day to a local reef (free of charge). There were beds and parasols galour and never to far away from the bar
6) - Activities - They offer, at a cost, camel rides, horse rides, quad rides, there is a licensed PADI dive center that offer a try before you buy in the pool, numerous excursions...the list is endless and suppose you need to undertsand what you want from a holiday before you book it factoring in the location of where you are staying. I personally thought that the entertainment team was poor and the activities a bit mundane
7) - Pools - The water park is great for kids both young and old however there is a family ring that seats up to about seven people that was a struggle to carry to the top of the slide, however once up there it was great to come back down. There are enough pools to suit and serve everyone...if there wasn't a bed where you wanted it the staff would go and get you the beds and the parasol !
8) - Drinks - All inclusive was as in most resorts, local spirits as well as beer and local wine:- re, white and rose. They SELL Heineken and named spirits as well as Cocktails and a selection of fruit juices
9) - Packed Lunch - Is available on excursions and your day of departure but you have to request it 24 hours before.
Negatives -
There were a lot of flies when we visited, the resort were aware and they smoked the area every evening
There were broken tiles etc in some of the swimming areas which left sharp edges which required extra precaution
As you are a captive audience the prices are inflated in the shops that are on site, we gave the children the Mars Bars out of the MiniBar in the room that cost £0.85, in the shop it was £2.35 !! A ball was costing £8 !!
We had four in a room which made it very small as there were two main beds and two put up beds, we looked at getting a family room but they wanted to charge us and extra 15 euro per person per night so see if you can negoitiate a family room at the time of booking
Room Tip: All the rooms have great views but see if they can allocate you one that is close to the main pools...
