My wife and I have just returned from a week at La Residence to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We're both keen golfers and booked the break via a specialist golf travel company and were very pleasantly surprised at the standard of the hotel and the golf course, which we played 5 times during our stay. Most reviews here talk about the hotel so I thought it might be useful to give some details about the golf course. The weather was pleasantly warm with the strongish wind off the Red Sea proving quite a challenge which, added to the grainy greens and thickish rough took some getting used to. There are some spectacular holes on the course and plenty of photos on the hotel's own web site to give you a feel for the challenge. The course is definitely walkable, which we did for the first 3 times, but then we decided to take a buggy for the last two so we could get back to the hotel for a couple of hours sunbathing before the sun went down behind the hotel, which it did about 4.00. Our only regret was that we didn't get out and about very much but given how much we enjoyed our stay I'm sure we'll be going back so we can see the sights next time :o)

If you need excellent sea, great service and good food - and all of the above for decent money - go to Soma Bay and stay in La Residence!
Especially in case you're travelling with an active kid - as I did with one of my sons.
You will enjoy - friendly and helpful staff, excellence in details, great SPA, comfortable rooms, very good food and wonderful beach (and sea quality).
Few small things to fix by hotel management - beds are not as comfortable as standard LHW hotel bed, and TV is extremely old and outdated.
Nice golf course (build by Norman), friendly staff on the beach.
You will enjoy a week there, no doubt.

We have just returned from La Residence Des Cascade after spending a wonderful week there to celebrate my fathers 80th birthday. The area of soma bay is absolutely lovely. It is very quiet and the hotel itself is absolutely wonderful. The management and staff are very kind, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I can honestly say i did not meet one miserable member of staff everybody is very happy. The decor of the hotel is lovely and the cleanliness is excellent. The rooms are cleaned daily and to a very high standard. The food is excellent and you are spoilt for choice for your selection. I can honestly say we did not have one bad meal. We have a 3 year old and an 8 year old and the staff were absolutely wonderful with them again nothing was too much trouble. They knew both our childrens names and kept them fully entertained. The spa is one of the best I have been to and both my husband and father are keen golfers and said that it is one of the best courses they have played. There is also a fantasic golf range and chipping green which my 8 year old absolutely loved. For my fathers birthday the managment and staff organised a private dinning section for breakfast which was decorated with ballons etc and my father was over the moon. All the staff went out of their way to wish my father a happy birthday and in the evening they made a cake for him and sung happy birthday to him.

I have been to many 5 * + hotels around the world but this is one of the best I have stayed in. It was one of the most restful holidays i have had. The hotel is great value for money and i would highly recommend it. The management and staff are doing a fantastic job and their attention to detail is excellent. It is my 40th birthday next year and i have decided that La Residence des Cascade is the place that i want to celebrate it with all my friends and family. I cannot wait to return. Thank you once again for making our holiday so special.

I stayed at La Résidence des Cascades for a week at the end of September 2011. The area of Hurghada and Soma Bay is absolutely safe and quiet; despite the political turmoils the country is going through. The staff was particularly polite and fully dedicated to the well being of the guests. The new manager of the hotel is fluent in four languages and takes the time to exchange a few words with each guest. I can definetly recommend the place.
