“Nasty”

The rooms smell bad, The night desk girl was more involed with her baby then my wife. We paid 75$ and feel the least we could have had was fresh donuts... I could have played hockey with the ones Deedra put out (at 11:55 pm) for the next morning. TG for micky D's ... The next morning on check out, the women Sue ... she had and awful smell coming from her. My wife gagged and had to walk away. Wont ever go there again, I would rather sleep in the car...

By the way, there is NO internet, the twit Deedra said the manager knew its been out before sept.

“Clean”

It's clean and the beds are comfortable but that's about all I can say for this hotel. There isn't much around, you're next to a Walmart and a McDonald's. Actually thank goodness for the McD's because breakfast was very poor, very very poor! Bad coffee, stale cereal, donuts and slimy danishes in plastic. And they ran out of Milk.

“Not a great place, but acceptable, under the circumstances”

This was our second stay at this motel, mostly because there were few choices for this area. The same coffee, choice of white, cinnamon, or plain doughnuts for the "continental" breakfast was all 5 mornings at each of two separate stays here. The same mold was on the bathtub this time as last time. (same room) The same indifference was present at check-in both times we stayed here.

The bed was comfortable and the linens were clean, but of poor quality, poly-cotton with pilling present on the sheets. Because we were there while some sporting season was going on, the loud talking in the halls at 4 am was not a pleasant wakening.

If at all possible, we would not stay in Ticoneroga again, but due to family near-by, this is not possible. We even tried another motel at another visit, and it was not a lot better, except it had a microwave and 'fridge so we could fix our own coffee and do cereal that we provided.

A subsequent attempt to make a recent reservation presented us with a different poblem, the refusal of accepting out drivers' license for a senior rate and the only acceptable ID was organizational membership. So, we are about to try a third motel in the area for our fourth stay in Ticonderoga.

  • Liked — nearness to family
  • Disliked — awful sheets, mold in bathroom, no access to review for main hotel source

“Not a lot to choose from in Ticonderoga”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2006

Our family of 5 stayed in this hotel for one night during August 2006. I was surprised that there were not more hotels to choose from in Ticonderoga; I believe this one was the only chain motel available although there were a few local ones in town as well. We tried one of the local ones but it was on a special weekend at Fort Ti, and they required at least a 2 night stay.

The word my kids used to describe this hotel was "stark." The room kind of smelled like dirty socks, although it looked acceptably clean. There were virtually no amenities (e.g. no internet in the lobby, pool, fitness center etc.) and the decor was rustic (one of the walls was made of logs) and plain. The continental breakfast was as minimal as it could be--muffins, coffee, juice, hot chocolate, and there was no eating area. The rate was $90 plus tax and rollaway for a double room.

The location was easy to find on the intersection of two highways. It is easy to get to the Fort ( a few miles away) from the hotel and it is right next to a McDonald's and a Walmart. This is a safe, decent place to stay but nothing more.

  • Liked — Location--close to Fort Ticonderoga
  • Disliked — There were no amenities--no pool etc.
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't expect anything beyond a good bed and coffee in the morning.
