“Nothing fancy but good enough for overnight stay”

Being familiar with the Carrier Circle area I was aware of the type of facility we were staying at. The Ramada Limited is immediately off of the New York Thruway at Exit 35 which makes for a very quick off and on. We were arriving late in the evening and needed to leave early the next morning so a comfortable bed was really all that was needed. I checked a lot of places in the Rochester-Syracuse area and this was the lowest price I found. We arrived at 10:00 pm and the young woman working at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Check-in was handled very efficiently and we went to our room. Our room was on the 2nd floor in the back building. There is no lock on the entry door and the stairway is rundown in appearance. No carpeting on stairs, just industrial looking tile with a fairly strong smell which seemed to be an air freshener or cleaning product. The upstairs hallway was well worn. Our room however was a pleasant surprise. The room was clean, did not have the smell of the hallway, and was comfortable. It was a non-smoking room and did not have a smell of cigarettes or cigars. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean (shower, sink, toilet all worked well). The room included a nice flat screen TV, coffeemaker, and iron with ironing board. The continental breakfast was fairly typical - apples and bananas, muffins, danishes, cereals, toast and bagels, juices and coffee. Overall I would consider this a good value and a positive experience. If in the same situation of requiring a quick overnight stay then I would stay there again.

“Met my expectations ; clean and cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel for four nights, and it met my expectations. I wasn’t looking for an expensive hotel, but did want something that was both convenient to downtown Syracuse (10 min), as well as clean. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the manager even made sure I had a microwave and fridge in my room (something I didn’t expect). It is true that the hallways are not heated and are a bit musty, but inside my room was clean and very functional. I have read some complaints about the truck depot behind the hotel, but as long as your room isn’t facing the depot it shouldn’t be a problem. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the two buildings should require card/key access to get in; however the individual rooms have double locks so I never felt unsafe. Bottom line is that the next time I’m traveling alone in Syracuse and need a cheap and clean hotel; I would stay at the Ramada Limited again.

“My College Student's Home Away from Home!”

I want to start out by saying how pleased I am that my son had such a wonderful experience at The Ramada on Carrier Circle. Alam, the manager had helped me on the phone back in July 2011 to make sure that my son would be comfortable while student teaching in the Syracuse area. He accommodated him with a mini fridge & Microwave & let him bring in his own TV & all the necessities to make him feel that he was at home. My son spent 3 1/2 months at The Ramada & was extremely comfortable, the room was spotless & he had his daily cleaning, towels, toiletries, breakfast, sheets changed every 2 days & help whenever he needed it. There is an Italian Restaurant right next door & they have a pizza side, also Denny's directly across the street & a gas station next to Denny's with access to the highway right there. Also was about a 10 minute drive to the State Fair Grounds. My son was a student of Cortland University & could not find anywhere for him to stay except for the Ramada, they welcomed him with open arms & I have only wonderful things to say about them. Alam, promised me on the phone, because I was very apprehensive about him staying in a place we had never seen before, that we would be very happy with the accomodations & he kept his promise, he did exactly what he said. The front Desk crew was very helpful & were very nice to him, Sally the day front desk clerk was always helpful as well as the night gentleman. The cleaning gals were awesome, kept that room dusted & scrubbed daily & always tidy!!! I would suggest to you if you have a student that needs a place to stay while student teaching, THIS WAS THE BEST place in the WORLD for him! THANKS RAMADA for taking good care of my son!

“Ramada Carrier Circle”

I have been staying in Carrier Circle for over 20 years off and on so no surprise these hotels are showing their age. having said that, I was pleasantly surprised to find the staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean, albeit dated, and the continental breakfast, well, how can anyone screw up them, so it was as good as anywhere. Is it up to the standards we at one tiime expected from Ramada? No, but it was all one can ask for and more for fifty bucks. The matress was better than many I have slept on at triple the price and all one really wants is a good sleep in a safe place which this is. Denny's is directly across the street in oveereating is your thing also. Excellent Wi-Fi connenction also.

Room Tip: excellent Wi-Fi connection

“Great for solo trips.”

I just recently returned from an overnight stay in this hotel. I checked in around 6:00 PM and the desk clerk was friendly. Check-in no problem. This hotel is split into two buildings--I was in the second one. The parking lot is dark and the 2nd building is next to a lot where trailer trucks load/unload/park. I had no problems sleeping at night. My room was clean, minimal. The hallways are not heated so it was FREEZING in the hall, but my room's heater unit worked and kept the warm room all night. My only complaint was that my bathroom sink didn't really work properly--no hot water when you turned the knob. But to me, it wasn't a big deal since I was only staying one night. I let the front desk know when I checked out. Staff was polite.
I did not like the fact the the main building doors are unlocked at night and it did feel a little unsafe but I had no other issues.

If you're looking to stay here with a family for a weekend/longer then I wouldn't recommend staying here. If you're only staying here overnight and you're by yourself or with one other person, then I recommend staying here. It's very minimal and I didn't need anything for my trip so my experience was fine.

Room Tip: Definitely choose no smoking. You won't be able to breathe if you choose a smoking room.
