“Spacious Rooms, Restaurant Onsite”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Contrary to some of the other reviews I've read about this hotel, my experience was just fine. The room was spacious compared to most, the internet access was fast, and there was a restaurant onsite that served good food. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I stayed there for over a week with no problems. If you don't have a vehicle, or don't know the area, I can see where it could seem like this hotel is in the middle of nowhere. However, if you have a vehicle, nearby Baldwinsville offers many shops and services. I experienced no musty smell or damp linens/clothing other than the normal that one would expect while traveling in the area in early August.

“great value - great service”

This is a great place to stay when traveling to the Syracuse area. We stayed there in Oct. 2011 for three days and had a great stay. The hotel has recently been remodeled and while not fancy, it is pleasant and very clean. The rooms have comfortable beds and pillows and the bathtub has a non slip mat and a good safety bar for those that need it. The restaurant at the hotel, Marcella's is convenient, nice and reasonable. Great bar and bartender, named Sherry.
The greatest assett of this hotel is the staff. From the General Manager, Karen, to the asst. Mgr , Beth to the front desk person Amanda, they are accessible and are extremely accomodating. We were unable to get the type of room we requested and were immediately upgraded upon arrival. This is a dog friendly hotel and they are flexible as to the size of dogs they accept. There is a large grassy area good for dog walks. Overall this was an excellent stay and we highly recommend it. By the way this is the former property of the Holiday Inn Fairgrounds but the similarities stop there. Unlike the previous hotel at this location, this is really a nice place to stay!!!

“Not the greatest . . . not even in the running”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Our chartered bus group stayed here in Sept, 2011. Some had nice, acceptable rooms but our room wasn't the greatest. The air conditioning didn't pull the moisture/humidity from the air which resulted in damp bed linens, damp towels and our clothing in the luggage was damp feeling the next day/night. The sink had rust stains which seemed to be from old age more so that from dirt. The shower/tub tile grout was dirty/moldy. I killed a roach bug on the ceiling in the shower/bath area the night we arrived. There was a water stain in the corner of the bedroom ceiling, but there wasn't any water dripping from it. The room smelled slightly of either cigarette smoke or mold or something else . . . it wasn't strong, but it was there. After turning off the facets in the sink, we could hear water dripping in the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom area. No elevator seen . . . a full flight of steps lead down to the 1st floor. A slight ramp and a half flight of steps lead to rooms on the 2nd floor (we were told it was all one level) . . . loads of fun hauling luggage up and down stairs. Wouldn't recommend.

“Do not stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We were on a tour bus, so had no choice! It was in the middle of nowhere (Industrial Park) If you had wanted to go somewhere close to buy an aspirin you could not. We walked close to 1/4 mile from lobby to our room. Room smelled very musty and humid. Plumbing fixtures came over on the Ark with Noah. Plug for tub sitting on side of tub. Stains in bottom of tub. Took forever to figure out how to turn on shower. Happen to walk barefoot across carpet and stuck to it!
Towels seemed to be clean and were white. Bedding felt "clammy" and moist. Personnel very friendly but rooms sadly lacking!

Room Tip: There are no good rooms in this hotel/motel

“Stay Here Only As A Last Resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

Basically located in the middle of nowhere. The room really smelled bad and the windows were inoperable. They put us in the basement next to a back door that the smokers used to get outside, where they sat on the steps. The door was not secure and didn't close all the way so security is bad there. I had to laugh watching any man over 6 feet tall try to walk down the corridor without hitting his head on the ceiling. The ceilings were less than 7 feet tall which makes the whole place feel like you're in a horror movie. Beds were average and it was clean... Buffet breakfast consisted of the worst quality food you can imagine. The muffins were so bad as to be inedible. One morning they had Chobani yogurt and everybody was pushing through to grab it before everyone else because there were only a few of them in the bowl. The next day there were none. Frozen bagels and coffee for me... As I said, stay here only as a last resort. We had made an error in our reservation at another hotel so had to stay here.

Room Tip: Try using the air conditioning to get the smell out of the room
