First the good news. The motel itself was more than fine. Room quite large and comfortable with all the usual amenities. No complaints whatsoever. Breakfast was included and it was OK. No fresh fruit, but lots to munch on. Staff was friendly.
Didn't try the inhouse steakhouse but it looks pretty good.
The problem is location. Unless you are focused on the fairgrounds, the location is dismal. Nestled virtually under the intersection of 2 highways (690 and 695). A bit challenging to get to but literally NOTHING of interest or nice to look at even for miles. Fortunately, the major attractions such as downtown or Carousel Centre are only a 10 min drive, so it's not that big a deal.
We go to Syracuse several times a year and like to stay in the Liverpool area. After a very pleasant experience (and good rate) via Priceline, we decided to try Hotwire this time. Hotwire divides Syracuse into 4 districts. I did notice that Liverpool extended a bit outwards. I accepted the deal and was then horrified to see where I ended up. Needless to say, I would never have selected this place had I known where it would be.
This being said, the hotel itself was very pleasant and very reasonable. I would not hesitate to stay in the hotel if it were located more favourably. Also, let me emphasize that there is nothing dangerous about the location; it's simply a matter of remoteness, isolation and ugliness.
