“New Years Eve Party and Accomodations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We went to a New Year's Eve Party Yesterday and stayed overnight. The accomodations were much nicer than we anticipated. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Parking was very convenient and adequate.
The food for the party was exceptional and the open bar was adequate enough for all in attendance. The staff was the friendliest we have ever seen in a NY setting Especially Dawn and Linda Marie. Any requests were simply met and the brunch the next day was extensive and due to the holiday they kept it going from 10am until 2pm. Everyone was given a late checkout. For the price of the weekend it was exceptional and this could easily become a tradition with some of our friends and family.
We would definitely try to come back for another quick getaway.

“Location, location, location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

Great place to stay if you are interested in visiting "The Hamptons." Short walk to downtown. Quick drive to the beaches. The hotel even offers a shuttle. We did not use it, but it is available. The rooms were very average for the price but you can't beat the location. The pool is ok. The bartenders at the outdoor bar were very nice, but they shut down early. Just because you are in The Hamptons don't expect this place to be very glamorous. It is just a little better than a standard motel. There are no interior hallways. I'd stay there again if I went back to the area. Doubt I would go back soon. I prefer Shelter Island.

“Excellent location and lovely place”

Before getting to Southampton Inn we werr a bit concerned because of some negative reviews, but after spending almost a week there I have to say that this place is lovely and I don't understand those negative rerviews. I think that the reason is the following: the prices were relatively high for weekends and lower during weekdays (the difference was remarkable); so who paid the high rate, may have had higher expecatations. Anyway, this place is located in a nice spot, walking distance from Southampton downtown and few minutes driving distance from the beach. It is surrounded by trees and is quite. Our room was close to the swimming pool but as it closed at 6 pm we were never bored at night by any type of noise. The pool was really lovely, surrounded by trees. A bit disappointing that the restaurant closed at 7 PM. The rooms were basic but spacious enough. Wifi is free. Staff very nice and kind. Woud really recommend if you want to visit Southampton, and having a good time without spending a fortune (chech rates of hotels around...). Check rates and try to get the best ones!

“A delightful stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

We stayed for 3 nights in Sept and found it to be an ideal location with a lovely bright airy room. Although it was a like a chalet lay out , the facilities were great and the staff were exceptionally helpful and obliging even after we had checked out . The mile walk to Coopers Beach was a little underestimated but well worth the trip. The only critisism was that the doors to each block should have " softeners " on them ( the real terminology escapes me) . Without exception every time someone closed the door, the room shook! However , this would not prevent me from booking again . I loved the Hamptons .

“Plain Vanilla @ French Vanilla Prices”

The accommodations are very basic. The “inn” is actually a variation of a motor lodge motel with room access from the exterior parking area. We stayed there in the off-season of late October. The room rate for Saturday night was $299.00 and $199.00 for Sunday night. The rates are exclusive of taxes which add another +/- 11.5% to the bill. I checked hotels.com for the following weekend and a rate of $169.00 per night was offered. I suspect considerably discounted room rates are usually available and this is one of those venues whereby such research will probably be handsomely rewarded. Rooms are located on two floors and access to the second level rooms is via a narrow stairway. The room has a small closet which houses a mini-refrigerator. The bedroom is sparsely furnished, for example, there isn’t a comfortable lounge chair. It had two night stands with lamps, a desk and chair and a chest of drawers upon which was a flat panel TV. The bathroom is very small and outfitted with a shower over tub; the bath linens were basic. The bathroom is stocked with a complete range of Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. There is a public lounge/library adjacent to the reception area which is furnished with comfortable furniture placed in front of a gas fireplace. There is a computer stand for public use and coffee and tea are available through the afternoon. The hotel’s restaurant, OSO, serves basic breakfast fare on weekends. A complimentary continental breakfast is served in the library during the week. The selection is limited. There is no evening meal service during the off season
The hotel’s grounds and gardens are extensive and nicely maintained. Although closed for the season, the pool area is pleasant. The Southampton Inn is centrally located in the village center and within walking district to the shops and dining venues located in the central business district.
This is not the kind of place you can’t wait to return to!!!
