“Shabby, no Chic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Our stay was comfortable as the bed was good and the shower was fine but this is an old and shabby place with little charm. The decor of our room was laughable. No headboard, unattractive giant palm fronds stenciled on the walls, and an assortment of mismatched furniture including a TV from way back when. The breakfast was very nice with a large assortment of items, though no cooked dishes. You pay a premium for the great location of this place.

“Our Second Visit and We Loved It!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

I must say that I enjoyed my stay at the Village Latch immensely. It is a unique property, which might account for some of the varying opinions. I guess I would say that you just have to stay here to experience it for yourself. What we found was a very charming and attentive staff, lovely grounds with plenty of space and privacy, charming no-two-rooms-alike decor and convenience to excellent restaurants and shops. We both would repeat our stay and plan to next summer. Recommended!

“Stay away. What was once quaint is now disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Avoid this place unless you can not get into ANY other place and RELLY need to be in Southampton!! The place is gross, they will chage you 10% for "maid service and breakfast, which consist of old bread and lousy coffee. the sinks are the ancient ones with 2 faucets, the towels are fraid and the place is filthy....cant see out of the windows which look like they havent been cleaned since the place was built a century ago. Stay next door at the Southamplton in or the 1708 house...or even a roadside motel would be better!!!

“They should be ashamed of themselves.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011 via mobile

The owners of this place obviously have no shame. Southampton lacks hotel accommodations and The Village Latch takes advantage of that fact. Once you are out here for the weekend it's too late to find another accommodation and you are held hostage into paying for two nights. Dont make a reservation to start with- go back home for the night!

“Do Not even think about staying here”

My husband and I along with our 3 year old daughter stayed at the Village Latch inn late July 2011....We wanted to spend a nice quiet weekend in the Hamptons while we continue looking for our dream home out there.....Much to my dismay, we were escorted from the main house to our own "private Cabin"....When I asked the manager why we were being placed in a cabinesque location she mentioned that we did not specify wanting to be in the main house, which obviously had all of the amenities.....Where shall I begin???
The room was disgusting, .It hadn't been upgraded for at least 50 years. the walls were cracking, the tile in the bathroom had mold and full of cracks, the blankets on the bed had pubic hair all over it......We were tempted to call the dept. of health!! as my husband and I are both physicians we knew that this was a health hazard......Not only was the place dirty, and smelled like mold, the ceiling fan squeaked all day and night, Sadly we paid almost $1,200 for a 2 night stay!!!!..originally wanted to stay next door at the "Southampton inn", but they were sold out......(a much better choice I may add)........DO NOT stay at this Poor excuse for an Inn.......beter to stay at the Bus depot, and its free...
