We were staying at the Packwood to attend a wedding and were given a choice of rooms to book. I asked if we could have the balcony room instead, because it was a birthday celebration for husband and myself as well, and I wanted it to be special. I was told none were available, but there was a "lake view" room in the wedding block. That was the first disappointment, the "view" was totally blocked by trees, the lake all but invisible. I mentioned this on check-out and was given an "oh, yeh that's room 211" No apology for the misrepresentation and no gesture to compensate in any way, even though the cost of the room was the same as all the other rooms----way overpriced.
Second disappointment, the room size and amenities were the same as many other less expensive hotels we have stayed at, nothing special. Though breakfast was included, you had to walk a block to the Sherwood to dine and it was exactly the same two days in a row on a weekend!! There were no attendants in the building day or night unless they were cleaning rooms, and no information outside of a book full of old pamphlets to look through to find your way around.
Yes, there is underground parking when space is available; wish we had known you had to check in at the Sherwood before you could go to your room in the Packwood; it would have saved some time and back and forth parking.
The wedding reception was great, the town was fun, the shops interesting and the lake very calming. The one good amenity , close to the lake; but don't look for a pool.
