“scenic century farm house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Skaneateles is a lovely town situated on the shores of a crystal clear lake. The swimming is fabulous. We set out for a short getaway, and were delighted to stay at the Hobbit Hollow Farm B&B. We wanted to ride our road bikes and run and there were plenty of hilly routes to choose from. There are also mountain bike trails in the area. Public boat launching is available up the road from Hobbit Hollow, that would be suitable for kayaks or canoes. We enjoyed the area during the day and our quiet farm setting at the end of the day. Each bedroom has unique features, and is decorated with antiques. The library and living rooms on the main floor, the porch and the gardens outside were very enjoyable. Breakfasts were gourmet and generous, but a little too sweet for our tastebuds.
The staff were exceptionally helpful with suggestions and information. This was a lovely place to relax and we hope to be back again!!!

“Wonderful B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

This B&B was first class from location to the room to breakfast. Located 5 minutes out of town overlooking a vineyard and the lake, it was the favorite of the many B&B's we stayed in on our trip. The manager, Holly, was most gracious and helpful serving us wine, cheese and frozen grapes upon our arrival. We were in the Chanticleer room which was huge as was the bathroom. As a bonus, there was a riding exhibition taking place adjacent to the property which we enjoyed watching in the late afternoon. If you want a B&B in Skaneateles, this is the place.

“Heavenly B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

Hobbit Hollow was the best B&B we ever stayed in. The lovely farm house (more like a small mansion) was redone and is at the five-star level. We stayed in the master suite, which has a large, private, screened-in porch with wicker furniture. The four-poster bed was SO comfortable and the jacuzzi tub a delight.

The house is located on a horse farm, and the sight of the beautiful hunter/jumpers grazing in the fields was enchanting. As we entered the house, the smell of chocolate cookies immediately made us feel at home.

While this is not an inexpensive place to stay, it is worth every penny.

The breakfasts were delightfully tasty, without being heavy. Ask Holly to make you the "stuffed croissant" if you want a real treat.

“Winter Palace on the lake”

We stayed one night 2-21-11 and there were 2 other couples sharing the Home. Our "deal" came with $50.00 dinner credit at Sherwood Inn.
This house it architecturally beautiful. I have posted photos which speak better than words. Been to more than a few B&Bs and here we felt at ease and at home..
Maureen, the innkeeper, was friendly and very accommodating (wine/beer was for the asking). The location was short drive (in summer would make a nice walk, but the temp was in the teens) to town.
Upon arrival there was the wonderful smell of cookies. We took tour of the house and found out large room with bathroom with Shower and separate tub. The house has a split living room are and a small library well stocked with a variety of book, So if the house is full it seem there would be places to be aside by yourself if wanted.
The breakfast was delicious and the scones (prepared by Maureen, using a secret recipe) were amazing.
The view of the lake from the hills is beautiful and the snowfall we had overnight made the views from the inside of the house amazing.

“Very Lovely”

My husband and I stayed at the Hobbit Hollow B&B while visiting family in the area. We loved this place! We were met with wine and cheese and able to sit out on a screened in porch enjoying the beautiful summer afternoon. Although Skaneateles Lake is across the street, the Inn sits up on a hill and you have a very nice view of the lake. We thought the accommodations were great -- very clean and spacious. Our room was upstairs, so if you have problems with stairs, you may want to ask for a first floor room. The breakfast was delicious, but a bit light. This didn't matter to us, since we were eating a heavy lunch with family that day. Out the front window, we could see the lake and on the side windows we could see the horses grazing in the pasture. So very relaxing! A bit pricey, but I thought worth the money.
